Thanks to public pressure, the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) recently proposed flat funding for the National Science Foundation (NSF)—a huge win considering that Trump’s budget proposed cutting NSF by more than 50%. Senator Katie Britt, who sits on that subcommittee, played a key role in protecting NSF funding. Now, we need her and other lawmakers to bring that same leadership to the next bill—the one that determines funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
