This is my favorite cover for an Amazon edition of the medieval chanson de geste La Chanson de Roland.
Cover for an e-book of The Song of Roland in which Roland is apparently a bearded, possibly Pacific northwest hipster strumming a guitar in the hills near a river.

It does not happen until after the war, during the second proposal (after they have come clean about the real reason for the invasion). His proposal is still in the formal, and C is the one to switch with "Te quiero."

Attempting a quick reread but *goodness* the ebook needed a lot more cleanup after an apparent optical scan job.

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, or alice in chains.

My wild, beautiful tentacle pot by @roseschmits.bsky.social arrived from across the ocean yesterday in pristine condition (impeccable packing job!), and it's now surveying its new domain.

Here are the contributions I came up with after about 5 minutes of rummaging. I'd also put Maurice Manning's Lawrence Booth's Book of Visions in there, just couldn't find my copy of it.

You inspired me to pull out the anthology I used in college. From 2001, and I'd say it looks like the editors took diverse representation more seriously. The anthology includes photos of the poets, which makes the rep even more visible to the reader.

Last batch of succulents this evening!
Three Lego succulents sitting on glass coffee table. One on the left has 6 big maroon petals, one in the center is small cactus with tiny pink flower on top, one on the center is a stalk of light green pearl-type succulents.

Assembling some Lego succulents was my small, good thing tonight.
Three Lego succulents sitting in a connected arrangement on a glass coffee table. The succulent on the left is big and spiky. The one in the center has an orange flower. The one on the right is a lighter green with a full bud of leaves.

Here is the back cover. I think the verb "anticipates" is doing a LOT of lifting to mediate between the actual text and an interpretation that minimizes Free's agency/frames her as reliant on Edward.

I am also struggling to reconcile the description of the cover with the cover on my edition, which is, I think, the only one the book has ever had. I don't see any text on the cover image that matches what is described here.

Courtney Milan's author's note for The Suffragette Scandal also really undermines the idea that the book is trying to say feminism is no longer vital because mission accomplished. I have a couple of screen grabs of key bits.

It's nice to see #5 on their author consignment policy. I am more inclined to support indie bookstores that take a clear stance against the use of generative AI in any part of a book's creation.
Some criteria we require for books on consignment:

1.The book must be written and marketed as a romance and adhere to basic criteria of the genre.
2.The book should be professionally bound, and designed with the title and author on the spine.
3.It should be priced comparably to similar titles and formats.
4.It should have an ISBN-13.
5.It should not contain use of generative AI, either for development of artwork used in the cover design or in promotion of the book, or in the content within.

If you see this, quote post with a beach photo from your gallery.
View from Italian beach looking out on blue water. The sky is also bright blue. The beach is covered with rows of blue and white umbrellas, parallel to the shore. A bit of rocky coastline is visible on the right.

Oooh. I could probably do it for most Judith McNaught books, any 20th c Johanna Lindsey, or any Julie Garwood historical. Sometimes I have a hard time telling what might be a more obscure work from an iconic author. How about these two: Castles by Julie Garwood Perfect by Judith McNaught

I'm never getting rescued, but at least there will be antics and banter and the kids will do their absolute best (except for the ones looking for a loophole).

I'm going to break the exhortation chain, but here is a photo I took this summer.
View of the Italian Mediterranean coast with bright blue water in the foreground and a little froth on the right edge where waves are breaking against yellow rocks. Hill with scrubby plants in the background. Cloudless sky.
