Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 14/10/2026Stalin was right. Voting doesn't matter if the people who count the votes are corrupt. The US has had relatively few, but not zero corrupt election officials over our history to date. 010
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 14/10/2026As long as voting machines have cellular modems, which almost all of them do, anyone in possession of the password(s) and a cellular modem can receive or send both program logic and data to them. In most cases, there is no externally- visible indicator if the cellular modem is active or not. 010
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 14/10/2026State law in Michigan explicitly permits any citizen to "openly carry" a legally owned firearm into polling places. Law enforcement, activated or on duty National Guard and military personnel may also bring firearms into a polling place. Anyone with a "concealed carry" permit may also carry a gun. 110
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 14/10/2026Sad and infuriating. Trump and Musk disgrace the US. 040
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 14/10/2026Almost all electronic voting machines have cellular modems which can be turned on and off remotely through the cellular network. Machines have NO external indication of being on-line or not at any given time. Voting officials use the modems to install the ballot processing SW for each election. 200
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 14/10/2026The problem with that is that in most states, Governors have little to no power to protect (or attack!) polling places. Many states have up to weeks of early voting, and some states vote entirely by mail. A National Guard vs. USPS standoff over mailed ballots is legally and logistically fraught. 120
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 14/10/2026Unfortunately, election officials will only know who voted vs. who didn't if the envelopes/ serial number tabs for ballots are recorded for each voter, both by mail or in person. If a significant fraction of ballots are stolen or compromised by bad actors, they'd have to run the whole election over 100

Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 07/10/2026That's infuriating. Hegseth and Trump should be held personally responsible for these failures 000

Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Or look at power prices in France, with multiple nuclear power plants and a new fuel reprocessing technique that eliminates/recycles almost all nuclear waste vs. Germany. They shut down their nuclear power plants, and 2 years later, had to re-open low quality coal mines. 001
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Renewables are NOT cheap if you also count the batteries necessary to provide "always on" utility-grade power. Spain, Portugal, California all have high penetration of solar power AND very high electricity prices compared to their neighbors. 100
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 12/09/2026There are also freight trains. Mostly with diesel electric engines. Everything now costs more due to tatiffs and the elevated cost of shipping over water, by rail, or multi-modal (aka BOTH). All thanks to Trump and his cabinet of toadies! 022

Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 16/08/2026The majority of "rich' people still do pay higher taxes than middle class or poor people. People in the highest income quintile pay both higher rates and more dollars. The "rich" also buy Treasury bonds, bank stocks, etc. that pay owners interest on loans made to the Federal or state government. 000

Only about 1/4 of our deliveries involve Amazon liveried trucks or uniformed drivers. Almost half are via our USPS carrier, the rest are individual subcontractors driving their own cars. 000
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 11/08/2026No problem if we also remove the benefit cap. I agree wholeheartedly with SS pensions replacing a larger percentage of preretirement income for lower-paid workers. I also would agree that SS pensions paid to the highest earners should replace less. Keep the windfall elimination provision too. 010
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 03/08/2026Not in Michigan without winning a referendum to change the state constitution. The legislature alone cannot eliminate our "Independent" Redistricting Commission. The quotes around Independent are because it's actually a bi-partisan body, with 1 claimed Independent person. 010

Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 20/07/2026That husband seems to value his avoidance of the mild embarrassment of a request for special treatment over his wife's comfort and good health. I would kick him to the curb over that! 100
Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 20/07/2026He's *technically* correct, celiac disease isn't an allergy per se. It's a disease, in which accidental consumption of even very small amounts of wheat causes pain and possible internal bleeding. I hope the husband was being specific in the hope of further educating waitstaff. I could also be wrong. 110

Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 16/07/2026Our backdoor neighbor had a shelty (who was slightly oversized for his breed). Their family had 3 kids, we had 5 in mine. Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 15/07/2026Google tells me Adam Corolla is 62 years old. I'm a bit older, but not by much; he and I could have overlapped at college. Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 15/07/2026McConnell manipulated Senate procedures to accomplish both those things with very little pushback from either Dems in the Senate or the public. Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 15/07/2026This is why Trump should never have gotten the nomination, much less the presidency. Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 17/06/2026It makes sense to me that education rights for students with disabilities or students from minority groups should be defended by the Justice Department, rather than having the Education Department create new courts, or hire lawyers to support families with SpEd kids in a separate & unequal system. 000

Anna from A2 @annafroma2.bsky.social · 15/06/2026All of the power collection, transmission and distribution for solar power costs at least as much, sometimes more, than for fossil or emissions-free nuclear power. Those systems are equally reliable. Energy storage or over-built solar panels needed to provide power year-round cost more for solar. 100
