Great to be at Number 10 today with other Labour mayoral candidates for the May elections. Working with our Labour Government, we want to deliver the change our communities deserve. And yes, we got to meet @number10cat.bsky.social .

Excellent visit to Peterborough Asda today with @andrewpakes.bsky.social, hearing from some fabulous apprentices, and talking about the ways in which the store seeks to support our community. Especially good to be reminded that apprenticeships are for all, not just career starters.

A pleasure to meet George on Friday, at the ground-breaking on our new @camcitco.bsky.social development at Fanshawe Road. George started with Hill as an apprentice and is now site manager. It was a great run up to #NationalApprenticeshipWeek to hear about the start an apprenticeship gave him.

I’m a proud Labour and Cooperative councillor, so it was excellent to see the number of @coopparty.party.coop councillors and MPs at the @lgalabour.bsky.social conference, and to be able to give our support to Labour’s plans for community energy. @tomhayesmp.bsky.social @emmahoddinott.bsky.social

An absolutely fantastic weekend at @lgalabour.bsky.social conference. Really good to catch up with wonderful local gvt colleagues and to hear from our front bench team. Especially good to talk to Angela Rayner about the opportunities greater devolution brings.

At today’s Cambs and Peterborough Combined Authority board, we voted by a clear majority to recommend bus franchising to @mayordrnik.bsky.social. We now await the Mayor’s decision. Our residents, businesses, schools, and colleges want better buses. Franchising helps us achieve that. A historic day.

Great morning in King’s Hedges, Cambridge, with Minister of State, Anneliese Dodds, Deputy Leader of Cambs County Council, Elisa Meschini, local councillors and activists. Talking about the £10 million our Labour Government has given to help fix potholes in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Cllr Anna Smith @anna4labour.bsky.social · 18/01/2025

In Peterborough this morning, talking potholes with @andrewpakes.bsky.social. The Tories blamed local authorities but starved them of funds. The Labour Government has given Cambridgeshire and Peterborough an extra £10 million to fix potholes, which will help start putting things right.

All 5 Coleridge Labour councillors, both City and County, out and about this morning, despite the cold. We knock on doors year round, not just at election time. It’s about picking up issues that need resolving for our residents and taking action.

Close to home for Day 3 of my #AdventCalendar. One of my favourite things in Coleridge is the lovely Birdbx Gallery community art project. Local artists of all ages displaying their work from people’s front gardens in and around the St Thomas’, Birdwood and Ancaster Way area.

The Combined Authority contributed almost £300k to the pavilion, and it’s another great example of partnership working, alongside Cambs County Council, Fenland Council & the Gvt’s changing places initiative. And a great @changingplacesuk.bsky.social toilet it is too, including a privacy screen.
