I feel like having a publicly available professional headshot/bio probably makes it easier for anyone inviting you to a speaking gig (because although you'd hope they'd email you and ask for a headshot and bio, that doesn't always happen....)

Really enamored by @tranquil.farm managed DIDs. Is there any public way of linking a DID back to its managing DID? Or could you use tranquil to spin up little anonymous accounts (for low-stakes reasons)?

I’m making a website for myself rn to get a sense of what I need out of a lexicon. I think the sifa.id project lexicons are also a great option! I’d love to share lexicons but need to figure out exactly what I need first:)

The question is how to start laying seeds of atmosphere engagement from within a website builder. An upcoming blog post I want to write!!

I’m hoping to avoid the cold start problem in underrepresented artistic disciplines (obv bsky has a strong visual artist presence already) this way because once enough people in a discipline have atmosphere websites, they can ALL unlock a prefilled social network on here

Yeah, that’s my thought!! Google is strong, and everyone has a browser already. *Anyone* can find you on a browser, so you can create a profile there without convincing all your friends to download some new app. So I want to use portfolios to bring new people into the atmosphere

Although @tranquil.farm allows managed DIDs! If you wanted a did managed by another with only one login, I think that’s something they offer

My pitch is that a website CAN be a profile on a social network of choice, one that everyone has access to (not everyone has X new app to look you up on, but everyone has a browser). And so we can leverage the “website as a social profile” into introducing people to the actual social atmosphere

100%! And I’d use the term “findable” even, over discoverable. Like you’re saying, people just want to be able to answer, irl, the question “where can I find you?”

Okay I have been sitting on the completed guide for a week at this point, but one of the steps is broken for me, so I'm waiting for dev help in case it's broken for other people too, but just know THE STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE IS COMING IMMINENTLY

That said, what I want is to start seeing these products out there!!! So I’d love to see a fb/insta page style website builder. I think people (esp small businesses!) would love that kind of thing. Gonna save this idea for later in case no one else gets there first ;)!

I think that’s a strong idea!!! Honestly the niche I’m interested in most is easy maintainability for portfolios. So less customizability than a normal static site builder, but with Astro layouts I’m hoping you could hire a web dev to lowkey make it pretty close to what you want.
