Last week, SCOTUS saved birthright citizenship by one vote, in a term that otherwise dismantled much of the Constitution's rule of law. Trump v Barbara shouldn't be celebrated, but studied for the exclusionary conception of citizenship the dissents embraced. 👇👇 verfassungsblog.de/trump-v-barb...

Working with Claude is like dating in New York. First it love bombs you, solving all your problems and making you believe you have found your work-partner for life. The next day it ghosts you when you ask a simple question, quoting "usage limits" 🤡

Trump v Barbara will likely be remembered as a case upholding the U.S. Constitution's birthright citizenship rule. But it also tells a tale of how a constitution’s rule of law is eroded from within by those tasked with ensuring its vitality. 👇👇👇 verfassungsblog.de/a-win-that-i...

Instead of finishing my damn dissertation, I wrote about the CJEU's decision to outlaw Malta's citizenship for investment scheme. TLDR: The Court's conception of citizenship is more defensible than the legal reasoning it provided to reach what is an ethically desirable result.

Deporting your own citizens is plainly illegal. But it is a logical step for a government that views its own citizens as enemies and is thus willing to trade their security and life for its own populist ends.

@verfassungsblog.de graciously let me offer some thoughts in this week’s Editorial on what the UK’s obsession with the Rwanda policy, Trump’s inhumane immigration agenda and Scholz’s desire to ‘deport in grand style’ might all have in common. verfassungsblog.de/when-law-fai...
