We all have more in common than differences that set us apart. We all long for companionship, compassion, and respect. We are all deserving of lives free from abuse.

The fact that fish feel pain is well documented. Yet the magnitude of the uninvestigated and unaddressed suffering in Tasmania's salmon farming industry is almost unfathomable. This week we lodged a landmark legal complaint to try to change that. We see them, and we know you do too.

She showed us all what it means to live with empathy, courage, and hope 🧡 Thank you, Gloria Steinem. The world is a kinder place because you were here. May you rest knowing that the change you fought for lives on in a global movement for social justice.

BREAKING NEWS: Forestry Corporation NSW has once again pushed back their plans for logging in Glenbog Forest, this time until February 2027. February will be upon us before we know it. We can’t afford to take the pressure off even for a moment — the animals are relying on us to end this for good.

This is not the news we had hoped to be bringing you. Change is rarely the work of a single moment — it's made by people willing to keep showing up. Thank you for showing up again and again for animals. ❤️‍🩹

Bred to be raced, confined, exported, injured and discarded when they're no longer 'profitable'. Born to be loved for the gentle, loyal, loving individuals they are. Greyhounds — like every dog — are companions, not commodities.

The H5 strain of bird flu has reached Australia. Governments are taking emergency action to stop its spread. Yet they still support recreational shooting of native birds — driving terrified animals from the habitats meant to protect them. You can't protect wildlife while supporting its slaughter.

Animals Australia @animalsaustralia.org · 24/06/2026
Bird flu is now on the Australian mainland. Many will focus on eggs and industry impacts. We're thinking about the animals. Around the world, this strain has killed hundreds of millions of birds. And it's intensive animal production systems that helped create the conditions for its spread.

On #BanLiveExports Awareness Day, we honour every animal still caught in this cruel trade. Until *every* live export ship is empty, our work is not done.

Today, more than 1M readers of The Age & Herald Sun newspapers will see our full-page open letter. Because native ducks are paying the price for a regulator that has failed them — and now the Allan Government wants to give that agency even more power. ACT: animalsaus.co/4eyezqX

This should not need saying. Native ducks and the people who rescue them deserve better than a government agency with one foot in 'regulation' and the other in promotion.

Disturbing footage from @geelongduckrescue.bsky.social: a shooter tries to kill a native duck by firing at point-blank range. With shattered bones she can't escape him and almost drowns as he tries — and fails — to kill her. Can you imagine her pain & fear? 💔 URGENT: Act now: animalsaus.co/4eyezqX

Every duck shooting season, wildlife rescue volunteers wade into Victorian wetlands to save injured native birds left for dead by shooters. If the Outdoor Recreation Bill passes, they could face jail time for doing so. animalsaus.co/4x6qpQw

Victoria's duck shooting 'regulator' promotes the very activity it's supposed to oversee. The Allan Govt wants to make it official — a hunting 'superagency' with even greater powers. An ABC exposé confirms it: conflicted and compromised. 🚨 ACT NOW to scrap this Bill: animalsaus.co/4x6qpQw

We're not born with intentions to treat other animals like products, we’re taught to. As we grow older, we unconsciously copy those around us. We have all inherited so much of what we believe and how we live. Children see animals as friends, not food — a reminder of the compassion within us all.

Media coverage of fires, floods and other disasters always speaks of “livestock losses”. The lives of tens of thousands of animals reduced to financial assets. But they were more than “stock”. They were individuals. Individuals who were trapped and terrified. Individuals who suffered.💔

Many of us will be spending time with family in the coming days - with people who love us and make us feel safe. Just like us, kangaroos form strong and complex family bonds. But these gentle families are being torn apart after the sun goes down across their homeland 💔
