Cactus "jerky" can be a pretty good snack.

Voting in corrupt idiots sure beats going to the barricades every time the elites appoint a new Lord Snapcase.

The Alaska population is fine. The Montana population & Yellowstone population are reasonably secure but totally isolated from each other. There's a few other pops in the US but they're too small for long term persistence. Wikipedia doesn't mention Canada but I assume many populations are good.

Question: to what extent did the shrinkage of undergarments reduce the extra workload created by washing outergarments regularly? Dealing with boxers has to be a lot easier than dealing with long johns. (The shrinkage was well under way before washing machines so it wasn't cause and effect.)

By her logic, everything alive is conscious, including plants and bacteria, so have fun starving to death while dying of an infected wound, everyone.

There are no longer brown bears in California, or most of the continental US.

Is it a reasonably modern chowder recipe or one of the early recipes more like a fish casserole (for lack of better analogy)?

Most of the claw games I see nowadays are "play until you win" which probably makes them less evil by comparison.

Smallest to largest pet rodents: mouse, gerbil, hamster, rat, chinchilla, guinea pig. Hamsters are endangered in the wild... turns out it's all due to hamster bone sack guy.

Absolutely not a given with orthopterans (grasshoppers, crickets, katydids, etc.). One of the reasons swarms of locusts and Mormon crickets have to keep moving is that they'll gladly eat each other...

I guess they had othee prisoners to remove the corpses and clean the gas chambers out afterwards, which seems like the major nightmare factor to me.

Then any Democrat adopting Republican policies or engaging in tactics that make it harder for Democratic nominees to win elections are collaborators. Being anti-trans is functionally equivalent to being Republican. Even conservative Democratic think tanks like Third Way agree. It's not complicated.

Very weird that gassing defenseless people was apparently fine, given that gassing was a more prolonged and horrific death than a bullet to the back of the head.

The pinstripe shirt isn't even consistent top to bottom, so all the people want is a comfortable shirt that has WOKE printed on it. Someone with really good handwriting and a sharpie could print money. 😉

Having a plan/goal and getting lost make it much harder for a lone individual to admit they need to bail out. Lost brains panic! The only real defense is exploring the outdoors w/ a human companion, and never splitting up. I suspect "being alone" is a more dangerous mistake than "planned using AI."

Oh, ex-situ conservation is not ideal, but it buys time and can get ppl invested in in-situ conservation projects. & sometimes, like the gingko, ex-situ conservation is the only hope left. I don't know if anyone is actually planting them or if it's just the stands that currently happen to exist.

I appreciate that you are reacting viscerally to
something taken out of context in a thread. A
person asked a question. Is this a threat? As
framed EXACTLY in that sentence. No. It is
not a direct threat. It was taken as harassment
instead and the person suspended and taken
down.

Please understand that there are a thousand framings using the word camps that are direct
threats. In that exact sentence it was not. I
was neither advocating for camps or saying
it's okay and we enforced under our rules.

If your direct response to our enforcing on
our community guidelines to make the folks
on here safer is to lash out and say that
moderators should be sent to concentration
camps - maybe you need to reassess your
priors but you aren't making this place safer
with that attitude.

Shells are a start, but what we really need are small fish with their giant eyes staring at you from death. Also a toilet seat that is entirely normal except for 1 carefully posed black widow spider. Fine, fine, they can be realistic animal props, not actual critters forced to suffer for art.

It's pretty easy for a non-expert to get a hanging wrong, is the problem. Honestly of all the methods the US uses the firing squad is probably the least horrible. Which isn't saying much!

Ironically the best way to raise non-hybridized American chestnut trees to adulthood seems to be planting them outside of their native range, in places where it's too dry for chestnut blight to due well. Which has issues of its own, I'm sure. 😵‍💫

It is unfortunately not a new ideology. Where are the wild bison? The red wolves? The salmon runs so thick you can walk on fish? IIRC, the whooping crane only survived total extinction cuz Canada has repeatedly raised a stink at the US's negligence.

The loss of the Gros Michel was the loss of a single cultivar. Like if Honeycrisp apples vanished tomorrow: tragic but you would still have Red Delicious and Granny Smith apples. The American chestnut is an entire species, one which used to be central to its whole ecosystem.

Outright lying seems more plausible in this case, but people in extremely stressful situations hallucinate all the time. When you start disassociating, the brain has trouble sorting out internal thoughts vs external senses and pretty soon God or some strange lady is talking to you.

The news barely covered the multiple people who set themselves on fire over the Gazan genocide, and that was when the news media had a Democrat they personally didn't like in office. The billionaire lapdogs aren't going to cover jack shit now!

If the news media won't cover giant protest-parades, they definitely aren't covering anything else. Plus effective protest in the US tends to be very small numbers and secretive. Mass injuries and mass arrests are hard to sustain, but anyone can destroy a Flock camera if they do it quietly enough.

Many of the Lapras pokedex entries include it being hunted to near extinction (despite being "gentle" and "highly intelligent"), so humans hunting and killing pokemon is canon. Certain pokedexes also reference other pokemon eating magikarps and wishwashis.

During a wild bat census, in the few minutes between capturing the bats & recording their data, they were kept in little cloth baggies (bats safe and secure, humans non-bitten) stored between jacket and shirt. Gotta keep them warm! Only ever carried one at a time, but that's one more than ordinary.

Both caused by the same bacteria, it's just where the bacteria ends up in the body: pneumonic in lungs, bubonic in the lymph nodes. Which has a lot to do with original transmission type and risks of further spread, but we also live in a world with contact tracing, a plague vaccine, and antibiotics.

There plague cases every year. If you aren't from that area of Russia I wouldn't worry about it. Depending on where you live, such as the Western US, you could be in more danger from letting your cat outside to hunt rodents (and your cat definitely is).

And they still thought it would be over in like a week! Not so fun fact: modern embalming techniques were popularized in America by the Civil War (and Lincoln's state funeral). Embalming + railroads meant that the dead could be sent home instead of needing to be buried immediately.
