CRIT. LIST: THE FABULOUS BARON MUNCHAUSEN (1962) - I'd be interested to see the 80s Terry Gilliam one but I doubt it's this charmingly artsy, I love the limited palette and the engraved backgrounds

I don't know if I'll play the remake but I'm glad Natla's back, she's so funny to me
Two drawings of Jacqueline Natla from Tomb Raider: 1996 Natla is receiving a page from Pierre informing her that Larson's head is stuck in a lion statue's mouth... again.
2027 Natla is receiving a barrage of texts and calls from Pierre informing her that he's in mortal danger. Natla is too busy scrolling Lara's instagram to care.

TWISTER (1996) - is the CG dated, yes, does it matter? NO ❌ - PSH at his most Jesse Plemons probably - I would just not divorce Helen Hunt, like boo hoo she's insane and obsessive and has unresolved trauma. Skill issue

CRIT. LIST: NETWORK (1976) - I only knew the Big Scenes and outside of that it's honestly kind of messy (and the May-December romance is...) but THOSE scenes and the dialogue make it. Sooo good. Also nothing changes ever. But so good

SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS (1957) - the plot is a little too straightforward once you get past all the (very fun) quippy dialogue and the ending's a bit rushed but none of that matters because I was barking like a dog every time this slimy little slag was on screen

[pluribus] Helen/Carol version
TOP: Helen Umstead and Carol Sturka from Pluribus and their letterboxd account. Carol refuses to give 5 stars but will relent if Helen really loves it. Helen has some very popular one-liner reviews whereas Carol either writes one line or endless paragraphs. The Princess Bride is in the top 4 but it's anyone's guess who put it there (or if it was a mutual pick).

BOTTOM: Helen and Carol curled up together watching a movie.
CAROL: I'm sure I recognize that guy from something. It's pissing me off.
HELEN: I'll load up iMDB in a second.Part 2.
HELEN: (looking at her phone) He was... Professor Lasky in Saved By the Bell: The College Years?
CAROL: Hm. Doesn't ring a bell. (heh)

[post-bcs] they should be annoying about movies forever 💕
Drawing of older Jimmy McGill (65) and Kim Wexler (58) and my take on what their letterboxd profiles would be: Jimmy's top 4 are All That Jazz, White Heat, Network and Lawrence of Arabia. Kim's are His Girl Friday, To Kill A Mockingbird, Doctor Zhivago and The Thing. Kim has a finely tuned rating system while Jimmy does not. Neither understands the Like function but Jimmy uses it anyway.JIMMY: Quit looking up the reviews, you're just gonna make yourself mad.
KIM: I'm *not*! I'm just logging it, I don't care what these nobodies think. That much. Anymore. Just the first page

[pluribus] honey we just really need that booktok demo
Part one of comic.
Carol sits on a computer stool despondent with her head in her hands. Her wife Helen is standing with a smartphone set on a tripod.
HELEN: I know, baby. It's just one little video. It'll take less than a minute.
CAROL: Random House wouldn't make me do this...Part two of comic.
Panel 1: Carol sits up and smooths her hair back, exhaling.
CAROL: Alright. I'm ready for my humiliation ritual.
HELEN (off-panel): That's the spirit!

Panel 2: Carol gestures dismissively while Helen stands with her hands behind her back with a neutral smile.
CAROL: At least it's not one of those *stupid* 'look at all the tropes in this book!' type things. I hate those.

PANEL 3: Helen looks off to the side. Carol looks at her apprehensively.
BOTH: ...

PANEL 4: Helen produces a mock-up of a promo for Bloodsong of Wycaro complete with arrows pointing to the book's cover listing all of the tropes within.
HELEN: So I talked to Val...
Carol buries her face again, frustrated.

drawings of Carol Sturka in various outfits in Pluribus 1x07: one of her in her golfing outfit against a yellow backdrop and smiling. One of her in her dinner outfit against a green backdrop, smiling and laughing but looking slightly worried. One of her in casual clothes against a green-blue backdrop, drinking a beer with a neutral expression and carrying Georgia O'Keeffe's painting 'Bella Donna' under her arm. Finally, her in casual clothes slumped in a lawn chair against a blue backdrop with a depressed/resigned expression. Fireworks explode in the background.

Comic.
Panel 1: Kim kneels in front of a grave, crying. Thinking: Jimmy...
Panel 2: she whips her head around to a voice off-panel. Voice: Hello, Kimberly. Here, take this. You're dehydrated.
Panel 3: Actor Kevin Costner holding out a bottle of water.
Kim (off-panel): Wh- KEVIN COSTNER?!
Hivemind Kevin Costner: That's right, Kimberly. This individual is known as Kevin Costner, star of major motion pictures such as Field of Dreams and Waterworld.
Panel 4: Kim stares at Hivemind Kevin Costner, slack-jawed.
Panel 5: Kim, angry: WHY?

First panel: Carol is tapping a whiteboard pen on her bottom lip and talking to herself excitedly. Her wife/manager Helen looks on smiling.
CAROL: Maybe after he wakes up and doesn't recognize her... she has to disguise herself as a pirate! Yeah, like a Twelfth Night kinda thing... that'd be cool...
HELEN: Having fun, are we?

2nd panel: Carol turns her head and looks away, flustered and embarrassed. Helen smiles knowingly.
CAROL: Oh, psh, NO. Just trying to keep the Rabasia dorks happy so they don't send us anthrax in the mail. (Trailing off) That's all...
