Happy Cesar J. Rosas Day! A member of the left-handed guitarist club (notice his guitar is reverse-stringed) along with Jimi, Kurt, Mark, Billy, Noel and two Pauls. Very few women on that list and none of them are well known except, as far as I can tell, Blues HoF inductee Barbara Lynn.

Happy Lemon Henry Jefferson Day! One of the few recording artists* born before 1900 ... in 1893 in the now-ghost town of Coutchman, Texas. Truly a recorded musical sound of the past. * Musical artists born recently enough to have been captured on electrical recording equipment,.

Happy Archie Lee Bell Day! This is a fairly faithful DJ edit of "Tighten Up" as I am trying as much as possible to avoid sharing YouTube links, what with all of Alphabet Inc.'s programmatic advertising and industry hegemony :)

I enjoy watching Neoliberal Democrats bricking their pants over DSA electoral gains. Crybabies with their "nothing will fundamentally change" platform that failed miserably, who succeeded in handing Republicans federal trifecta power and two Trump terms.

I was recently watching Louis Theroux's old "Wild Weekends" series. In a background shot of his episode on Black Nationalists (filmed in 1996 or 1997) in NYC, I noticed one of those COP-SHOT billboards, offering $10k for info that leads to the arrest/conviction of anyone who shoots a NYPD officer.

HAPPY LOUIS DANIEL ARMSTRONG DAY! This New Orleans prodigy was lured to NYC in the Roaring 20s by the Harlem Renaissance and Broadway, eventually settling in Corona, Queens, in the late 1940s, thanks to his wife Lucille's desire to live in a grounded neighborhood away from hotel suites and bling.

Years ago, I interviewed a young black woman from Canarsie Brooklyn who worked at KFC* in downtown Brooklyn for 7 years, living in a cramped apartment, sharing a bedroom with her cousin. She was saving money to follower her mom to North Carolina.

Most people join local English-language news organizations when they're young and untethered, then grow out of it as they age and tether. Kendall did this in his late 50s. << As of 2017, he worked for Bangkok Post, where he wrote and edited stories, produced and anchored podcasts, and more. >>
