I was in a market in a rural Italian town, walking and eating a pear. A very small elderly woman looked at me in passing, and gave me a big "Tsk!". I always eat sitting down now. I have a lot to learn.

I woke hours too early, in a foul mood. I dreaded going to work. It rained on me. Since then everyone has been resolutely nice to me, apologising for the muckups recently I've been threading through (and not complaining). And the sun's out. Almost like life's not too bad after all.

Tangent... When I did some global anthropology of food papers, I began to understand that everything comes down to access to water. Every system, border, economy, technology, biology... It's like 'follow the money', but for everything.

Just saying, from a point of view of anti-authoritarian streaks in us as a people, there aren't many countries with an official National Monument for Conscientious Objectors. The UK for example, has a memorial stone.

Cook is someone I hold so many different thoughts about at the same time. I've been on the replica Endeavour, and that's not a life I could have tolerated, let alone led a bunch of men, and difficult scientists. Yet I'd happily keep watch for the cops while someone took a leak on his statue.

I'm a diabetic, and I rely on a personal relationship with my pharmacist as well as my doctor. And he is struggling, because hair bands and umbrellas, as good as the mark up on them are, doesn't keep a pharmacy open. I'm sure the pharmacists at the big stores are good, but I'll never meet them.

Exactly, If it was the OPAC then it would have been an OK deal. I worked in one library where corporate brought in 3 project managers to do the 'new library website', not knowing what an OPAC was. It broke all of them.... Libraries are incredibly complex digital environments
