Yea they canceled the entire season. It feels similar to me because there was the same level of animosity between the players and owners over the salary cap. It feels like Manfred is not going to budge on this. Ultimately hockey was in a better place after the lockout though. Guess we will see.

I'm not a big fan of Baty either, but he did have a better a year than Semien. So while not ideal, it'd be an improvement. I have no faith in Mauricio either and would hope that Rojas wins the job. I just don't really see any other options available to them at the moment.

I don't have a ton of memories at Shea due to my age. I lived about 1.5-2 hours away as a kid and my dad hated going to the city. So I occasionally went by myself when I got older. The last real memorable experience I had at Shea was at the Lastings Milledge high-five game the lasted 12 inninngs.

Beautiful tree. Autumn is my favorite season. I love the foliage. Unfortunately, this month they cut down the maple trees in front of my house in the town I live in, so I can't enjoy them this year 😭. So I'll live vicariously thru bluesky pictures.

I think he may be. He admitted recently that there was too much turnover on the roster this past season which was part of the problem. There will be less this year outside of 1B, pitching, and 3B (depending on what happens with Bichette).

Metropolitans: New York Baseball, Class Struggle, and the People's Team by Gittlitz is an interesting read if you want something different than a typical baseball book. "They said it couldn't be done" about 69 Mets. "Faith & Fear in Flushing." Darling & Wright's memoirs are good too. All solid reads

I finally had the chance to listen to Stearns press conference from a few days ago. The only thing I didn't love was his answer about 1B. Baty is a fine utility player on this team, but he shouldn't be mentioned as a possible solution at 1B. They need to go external at 1B. #MetsSky

I don't have an issue with the McCarthy trade. The Giants don't have a backup QB in case Winston gets hurt. Winston's arm looks shot. McCarthy has a live arm and hasn't really got a full shot to prove himself. Maybe McCarthy needs a change of scenery and Harbaugh's influence #NYGiants #BigBlue

Good morning. I think Bichette opts out or they negotiate a different contract. $42 mil could really hinder the Mets offseason plans. I think they keep most of the coaching staff and non-tender Vientos. And there will absolutely be a lockout that will at bare minimum cancel games thru the end of May

There is something so unique & beautiful about baseball. It evokes a strong feeling of nostalgia while also providing a sense of comfort, normalcy, & routine in a world that has gotten so hectic. To have a voice to your summer is a blessing. It has no equal in sports & we are so lucky to have it.

It is indeed sad especially with the impending lockout. Baseball is a part of our daily routine. The one positive about the lockout starting on December 1st, maybe we will see roster additions earlier, instead of having endure the usual long torturous offseason.
