Will London have a Super League team next season? We still don’t know
The Broncos demolished the second tier, winning 26 of their 27 games, but promotion is not only decided on the pitch By No Helmets Required Two years ago this week, London Broncos were relegated from Super League, their ground had flooded and their owner had walked away after spending £24m of his private fortune. The club were soon asking supporters to save them. They did – and fans wearing last year’s away jersey listing those saviours’ names (including mine) across their chests were among the proudest people in the ground on Sunday when London thrashed Doncaster 78-6 in the Championship Grand Final. London Broncos have completed a second-tier treble this season but their fans cannot celebrate promotion to Super League yet. Instead they will spend this week waiting to see if they have made the grade – promotion being decided not only by gradings based on both on-field and off-field criteria but also the key decision whether to expand to 15 teams. Bill Oddie tribute trip to Cley. Exactly as he said, an incredible range of birds - from Razorbill and Red-throated Diver at sea to Wheatear and Bearded Tits inland. And a single Brent Goose flying over, which always makes me think of Brent Grose in a rare RL / birding crossover.

I was lucky enough to see his performance when Wakey beat Sheffield in a Yorkshire Cup Final at Elland Road. Early 90s I guess - maybe first got Wigan interested?

Really excited for Saturday's Super League Grand Final between Warrington and Wakefield. The last time Warrington won the title in 1955, Brian Bevan was playing. The last time Wakefield won the title in 1968 saw Neil Fox playing. Will Saturday's game have any future Hall-of-Famers playing?

At risk of sounding churlish, what do the stats of Warwickshire's September romp say about the standard of Championship this year? I reckon with Leics 47-5, following collapses from Essex, Hants and especially Glam, Bears have taken 65 wickets for 773 in September. Are they that good?

And just to show it's not just RL that does daft things, seems a shame that a much better summer for the county cricket one-day comp ended largely unnoticed with a Sunday final. No issues with Trent Bridge as venue - but please get it back on a Saturday next year.

Day 3 Lancs v Glos but also of interest to @somersetccc.bsky.social - James Langridge, a tall left-arm quick on loan to Glos who impressed in the first innings, has just ripped out Matty Hurst with a classic inswinging yorker. Lancs should have been 4-2 but Harry Singh dropped off next ball.
