The idea is that non dental healthcare is free at the point of use. NHS dental care charges nominal amounts towards care for adults with a maximum of (I think) £200. Many of us had to seek private dentists due to a lack of NHS ones. There’s a nominal charge of just under £10 for prescriptions.

With an NHS dentist, you still pay a small contribution once you’re an adult. But we also have a shortage of NHS dentists.
