Final month of study leave, I'm finishing of a side quest involving some old English Bibles. Like this beautiful Geneva Bible (1560). Any ideas what the journal article is about?

I’m pleased to share that my Seminary Now course, Exploring Genesis, is now live. Together we’ll explore how Genesis helps us understand God’s character, humanity’s story, and why this world (like my bow-tie) isn't quite right. Love for you to join me. Explore the course at seminarynow.co/genesis

A review of Modern Genre Theory in JETS has finally raised the authorial elephant in the room! Evangelicals often struggle with the move between descriptive (this is how people read) and normative (this is how we should read) hermeneutical projects. I tried to be clear, but maybe not clear enough?

"I only wish I could have read this book when I was a graduate student" ☺️ awww... Just saw this review of Modern Genre Theory in Bulletin for Biblical Research by Daniel Smith which says nice things and (more importantly for the review genre) nicely summarises what the book is and who might use it.

Microsoft forcing Copilot on me (no I don't want you write my sermon for me, that's the part of my job I like!!) pushed me to the free open source LibreOffice.org No regrets. Word compatible and loads everything quicker. Why are we still paying Microsoft to ruin things? (yeah okay Active Directory)

"This cookbook is terrible". I guess I only have myself to blame for this review of Modern Genre Theory 😆

Continuing my campaign to rename the OT dept at Ridley. Disappointingly, my Minor Testament colleagues don’t seem to be on board.

Heading to San Antonio for Bible-nerd-fest? At #ETS23 Tues morning I'll be talking modern genre theory, Daniel 1–6 and my general rule of thumb for all biblical literature ... "It's Probably Not Satire"
