I really wish reviewers would do their homework before writing stupid things like this. Forgotten by whom? Distorted by whom? There's a lot of scholarly work, work I'm guessing this book drew on, about this. Academic scholarship is the foundation for pop history. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/15/b...

This is a perfect example of how New York Times headlines fail. Trump's veto message explicitly said he was vetoing b/c of opposition to his deportation policy and yet the NYT still pretends that retaliation is a subjective view 🤷

Bari Weiss wants to weaponize civility to silence her critics. Rather than engage the substance of the criticism she dodges it by claiming the criticism is in bad faith & implying that all views are equally deserving of respect but some, like her censorship here, are wrong and don't deserve respect

Andy Lewis/The Optionist @andyblewis.bsky.social · 22/12/2025

Here's the thing about Bari Weiss: she falls back on this 'can't we all be civil schtick' not to advance debate but to silence critics. She accuses them of bad faith for assuming the worst but that's what she does. (Here's Weiss on her 60 minutes critics & earlier examples of her bad faith

The record for a comic is $6M. This is already at $8.4M with a few hours left in the auction! It has a heartwarming backstory: It was found by 3 brothers in an attic after their recently deceased mom bought it as a young girl living in SF's Chinatown. www.hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/ar...

Netflix is rebooting the 80s hit A Different World & now we learn that not only is the streamer paying Bill Cosby money b/c he was technically the creator they're paying him extra to keep his name off of it. Sure pays (maybe $1M) to be an (accused) rapist. h/t @puck.news @kimmasters.bsky.social

For Veteran's Day, I wrote about how Alan Alda wore the real dog tags of two WWII soldiers on M*A*S*H. He alway wondered who they were. I found them and told their stories. It's a moving, inspiring story of two anonymous GI's with a bit part in TV history. theankler.com/p/secret-his...
