There's something about the great haunted house novels of the 60s and 70s. Amityville Horror, Hell House, The Shining, all titans of this subgenre -- but Burnt Offerings deserves amplification. The horror muted and quiet, yet proto-Ari Aster. Big recommend! #booksky
