I know a carbon literate Wordpress developer who's built sites for people like Jon Alexander (jonalexander.net) *Points at own chest* If you'd be interested in working with a dev rather than DIYing it with a theme ping me a message.

In France we get the worse version of this. Massive pick up trucks aren't technically available to buy but they are showing up on some mountain roads nonetheless.

For me Deezer loses half a star because it's not quite as polished as Spotify but gains two for not being Spotify.

We migrated from Spotify to Deezer after 15 years on the platform. Tidal migrated a couple of hundred playlists and loads of music. Lost a tiny handful of tracks due to rights issues. Totally worth it.

A lot of people seem to be realizing that knowledge work is mostly pointless. AI might give us the pleasure of finding out what happens if an entire class of workers loses faith in their careers.

Don't forget that it's another reduction in our privacy. Waymos are lousy with cameras recording you as it passes, whether you want them to or not.

Measuring the impact of this extremely hot summer in lost GDP rather than human costs like restless nights, runs cut short, amount of brown grass trodden on, panic inducing headlines read etc is a real bummer.

This claim made me laugh solidly for a good five minutes when I read it last month. They're the perfect example of absolute power corrupting absolutely. Praying for the FCC to brake up the fuken company up into it's constituent parts and take away the keys to their monopoly.

All the current models have extractive practices at their core. The only way you get Fairtrade models if for the current ones to be scrapped and new ones built with training data provided on an opt in basis and people and organisations are paid fairly for their input.

This ☝️ Data worker conditions are an under reported part of the "AI for Good" picture. I wonder how many people who make ethical purchasing decisions based on worker conditions (Fairtrade food, no fast fashion, Amazon boycotts) still use GenAI out of ignorance?

Seems like the article isn't written properly if you need AI to give you key takeaways or explain why it matters.

I've just taken the dog for a pee in out village in the Tarentaise, cooler is an incremental distinction here tonight. It's in the high 20s with oppressive humidity at 650m altitude. We have two small forest fires within 10km of our house

I've got a paid Proton Mail account and I'm pretty happy with it. My phone backs up photos to the drive now and the calendar works, well, like a calendar. The docs and spreadsheets aren't great. Ultimately any loss of functionality is overridden by the increase in privacy.

Yep, there were some pretty interesting insights but it's hit and miss. One set of insights made me 10 years older than my actual age which is accelerating my de-googlification. Like you say in the newsletter, it makes some pretty intrusive observations.

Good shout. There seems to be a decent community resource around the banking apps. (community.e.foundation/t/list-banki...) Wise looks to work which is what we use for cross border banking. Helios that I use in France might have issues (no surprise, the app is problematic).

I had a model 4 which was, well, fine but not much more. The camera is a definite weak point (or was for that). But the company ethos and repair-ability of them massively compensate for any performance issues. I'd have one now but need my (long story but freely acquired Pixel 7a) to die first.

Ok, so for the infographics. I think for the Agentic workflow we want a lo-fi version of the Spiderman meme. Cool. Very meta. And the Dynamic Workflows? I don't really know yet. Maybe just put "Claude" in as place holder text in the cascade and we'll work it out before it's published.

I didn't watch any of the Qatar WC. This time round i'll probably hold my nose and watch England games with mates. Maybe a French game or two with my lad so he can keep up with what his friends are talking about. 1996 was peak tournament watching. Modern life is rubbish.
