Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 20/09/2026I take Future Sight pack 1, pick 1 and end up drafting this almost completely creature-free, scraping for playables control deck. I am somewhat skeptical that a deck like this can be successful, but it’s the last draft of the day and I’m just happy to be playing a style of deck that I love. 130
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 19/09/2026Draft 2 is the Trinket Cube. Didn’t look at the list and my draft felt pretty bad. Seems like there are some combos floating around and I’m not sure aimless Jeskai decent cards is a deck. We will see, I suppose! 140
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 19/09/2026Capitol Cube Champs thread! Full random, as per, and ended up in “Desert Bird”, a low power old school desert cube. p1p1 was FTK over Sulfuric Vortex, knowing I was almost certainly putting the player to my left in red. Pick 3 Fire Covenant felt cracked 6510
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 23/08/2026We’re back for day two of Cube for a Cause: Obscura! I’m in the booth with @ollie.bostoncubeparty.com and @janemckinney.bsky.social and we will be covering Ollie’s cube “Dangerous”. What dangers await our 8 blind drafters?! twitch.tv/luckypapermtg 0315

Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 10/06/2026It’s @lyserg.bsky.social’s last cube night in America, so at his request he went full Bobby Fischer and triple queued in THREE cubes at once. He 3-0’d two of those drafts and none of his rounds went to time. 7512
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 13/05/2026I regret to inform you that you were all wrong. The answer is Orvar. 4120
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 02/05/2026You should attend a cube event in a church with six pounds of carrots on the player snack table. It’s Salt Box weekend in Baltimore! 3474
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 12/04/2026It’s easy to cut cards from your cube! Just remember that the person that added the card (you) is stupid! 0374
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 01/04/2026Catching up on scanning the altered Ornithopters from Shoebox and doing a full inventory. I have a small conundrum: Do you count these ornithopters, with very minimal doodles, as “altered”? Do you think they were the result of a 3-0 draft, or just vandalized while being tallied? 6100
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 31/03/2026Does the second half of this roto change how you feel about your previous favorite column? 110
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 26/03/2026We're roto drafting Sacred Geometry with 10, which column do you like the looks of best? 13100
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 16/03/2026A feel good, late 90s movie about a golden retriever eating pussy 5415
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 15/03/2026It’s happening as we speak! @jenn-the-judge.bsky.social had the great idea to give the drafters something to remember the occasion by, so I scoured the bins at one of the vendors and @janemckinney.bsky.social helped me come up with this. 3384
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 14/03/2026Day two stone soup at @shoebox.gg. I fucking love this format. I was skating for a long time with no win conditions while drafting this Jeskai control deck. I got the whale late pack 3 and I kinda don’t wanna play it just so I can say I’m fully creatureless. 1211
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 13/03/2026First event of @shoebox.gg is underway! Early bird cube pod 1231
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 10/03/2026Assuming it fires in every round, the 6th draft of 100 Ornithopters at @shoebox.gg will be the 69th draft, which I feel is important information for potential alterers to know. Ornithopter #69 is already named and claimed, though. 5512
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 10/02/2026Late last year our cube playgroup outgrew our LGS and moved to a local brewery. I was worried we might struggle to find new people in the new space, but we’re 36 tonight with lots of new faces! 2410
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 09/02/2026Not really an option. Window is set in a 14inch sill, and off center with the sink (which will be in the right corner, you can see where the old one was removed. 100

Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 15/01/2026Free Cube idea for someone that feels inspired: a cube that only includes cards first printed in sets Richard Garfield was on the design team for. A very cool collection of sets/mechanics to build a cube around, with a compelling and concise log line. 4242
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 03/12/2025What are some mechanically simple cards, ideally in black, that you would prefer to discard? I’ve already looked through all the cards with the madness mechanic, so no need to mention any of those. 28332

Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 29/10/2025New record for #cubetuesday — THIRTY NINE players. Just one shy of five full pods. 2483
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 24/10/2025I had 100 Ornithopters in the open play area at Cube Con and looking through the cube after the weekend to see the 3-0 alters I was heartbroken to find that someone drew OVER @klugalters.bsky.social's incredible Ornithopter. I assume someone thought it was just a different printing of the card? 😭😭😭 23683
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 23/10/2025Going REALLY hard on strong motivations to play things other times could be very cool. Addendum, for example. But a card like Moderation, to me, is the perfect example of why not committing to 100% instant speed could be cool. What a sick payoff. 150
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 23/10/2025Snapcaster Mage the GOAT, would love to see multiples in a cube like this. Perilous Research, Caller of the Claw, and Dress Down also come to mind. 120
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 09/10/2025Guy listens to ONE of the 2-3 episodes per year where we actually address Magic more broadly instead of SPECIFICALLY FOCUSING ON THE ASPECTS WE LOVE LIKE WE DO EVERY SINGLE WEEK. I rate this listener 0 out of 5 stars. 6271
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 08/10/2025I haven’t been keeping up with my #cubetuesday posts, but it’s a heater this week. We rotisserie BUILT a RUG cube in our playgroup and I drafted this. 3180

Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 07/10/2025Fun game @phantooom.bsky.social just invented: for each evergreen keyword ability, what is the card that uses it best? For example: Celestial Colonnade is the best use of vigilance, Ball Lightning is the best use of Trample, etc. 17192

Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 20/09/2025Won round 2 by doing some bullshit of my own, then it was my turn to get Hullbreacher Timetwistered! 160
Andy Mangold @andy.luckypaper.co · 20/09/2025Second draft of the day is “Tresserhorn Gardens”, which appears to be a more or less power max grixis cube. I think my deck is a bit of a mess. Lost r1g1 to an on curve Gut, True Zealot, sideboarded and kept an opener g2 with Meathook Massacre and Confluence, and opponent played Sheoldred 🙃 160
