I feel like what PCA is doing is still being undervalued by everyone but stat-obsessed weirdos. The GAP between PCA and 2nd-place Shohei Ohtani is the same as what Ranger Suarez, Jake Bauers and Braxton Aschraft have done this year. Basically, PCA is a full All-Star level player better than anyone.

I know, I know - easy for me to say, I'm a Cubs fan. The thing is, my big-market team doesn't do much with its advantages. They treat the 1st luxury-tax threshold as a de facto cap. They'd love nothing more than an excuse to spend less. I don't want them or others to have one.

The thing is, owners could solve whatever spending inequities exist among themselves by enacting more aggressive revenue sharing. That wouldn't require a single proposal to the players. They could do it tomorrow. But that wouldn't make them richer. So it's not even discussed.
