Have you used Music Assistant at all? I made 5 RPi Volumio players, and Sendspin perfectly syncs them over the rooms. Plus, I saved old speakers from the landfill! SMB share from my server plays my own music, and I play streaming radio while I get ready for work. No subscription, no ads. I HATE ads.

Awesome!! I love HA; everything in one place, under my control, and no paywalled "pro" or "plus" features. I don't use voice much because I've got most things automated, but for stuff like little-used lights or a sensor status, it's perfect. Plus I don't have to bellow the name of a corporation. 😁

Converting my voice satellites from Wyoming Protocol to Linux Voice Assistant is proving to be a somewhat painful process, but sadly, Wyoming is deprecated. At least Google and Amazon don't know if I turn off a light and LVA doesn't try to upsell me to "Plus" or show me ads. Two down, three to go.

Is he with an outsourced IT company? We have a setup to access files on a server at our sister company across town, and it meant I wasn't allowed to keep my file server with outside access...because that's their policy. If someone asks for a file on my server, I just say, "Nope. Can't. Firewall." 😁

If it's Enterprise, he could remove it through Group Policy. For whatever reason, his or corporate, he's chosen not. I couldn't stand it, either; I'd hate my job. I'm "grandfathered in" to use Linux at work, but only because it's a small business, I've been there for ages, and I *was* IT for years.

You can uninstall it, but if it's a company computer, IT guy wants them uniform because he has to support them all. If uninstall is greyed out, you can remove it in PowerShell, but that's more advanced. I haven't used Win myself since XP, but I read it may reinstall itself during updates (?)

Sooo many scams now, and AI is making them even harder to detect. I'd keep one; find a good one with rewards you'll actually use. I'm personally fond of cash back; since I use mine for everything, I get cash back for paying bills and buying groceries, and never pay a cent in interest.

I have one credit card, but treat it like debit; I don't spend what I don't already have. I use it for everything I can, and pay off the balance in full every month so they don't get any interest. Plus I collect points for cash back. It may be different there, but I thought it worth mentioning.

If there's fraud, you'll get your money back from the bank, yes, but the amount may not be available to you while they investigate. Card companies are *highly* motivated when it's their money, and your money is still available to you while the dispute is resolved.
