Ok! I pick this one, and argue that AI generation does not constitute "the conscious use of the imagination in the production of objects" because the objects are produced by a computer program, and therefore objects can only be considered art to the extent that they are not AI-generated

So what you're saying is, is I don't install the update until January, you won't install the shitty genocide wizard themes?
The system update screen on Android. The "feature drop" includes some Harry potter themes, but they're only available until December

I've built a little prototype of a game displayed via autostereogram, so you can game *and* have a migraine at the same time! In the game you can adjust the pattern width or invert it — you can't do that in a static video so I guess just resize the window until it works (or take my word for it)

Thinking about it, I think this might be too much fidelity for N64-era Zelda. Link is what, nine in this game? He's a child, that's the whole point. You can get away with sending a child to fight monsters if they look like Steven Universe or Luz Noceda but if they look too real it's harrowing.
A screenshot of Child Link playing the ocarina. He has cartoon features but is otherwise quite realistically rendered

I made a pinball game in 1k of #Pico8 code for the #Pico1k jam andrew-t.itch.io/1k-pinball It's small and janky but I'm surprised how complete a pinball game I was able to cram into 1024 bytes. (That's compressed, it's 1968 characters of Lua code with no assets.)

I understand how you can use AI to make the set for a film, if it's all just green-screened or whatever, but lighting? How can a light be AI? What does it mean for a film to have "AI lighting"?

Just saw this image and I think it's very funny that whoever made it clearly just googled "atom" and ended up putting the icon for a text editor in their pro-science propaganda
A series of statements like "vaccines work", "chemtrails aren't a thing" and "universe is expanding" which is bad grammar and not to my knowledge disputed, and at the bottom "stand up for science". The statements all have icons and the icon for the last one is a picture of an atom, but specifically the one used as the icon of the Atom text editor

Good to see the replies to this are finally catching up to what I was saying five years ago
A Twitter post, because this is the past.

Quoting a story about whether there should be a female James Bond, I say there should be, and then clarify in a reply:

Not a female 007, not Jane Bond, straight up cast a woman to play James Bond. Sharp tux in a ladies' cut, sleeping with Bond girls, references to establish she's the same character as Sean Connery, the whole shebang, but played by Hannah Waddingham and it's NEVER ADDRESSED.

I asked it for a stopwatch once and it drew one in ASCII art — these aren't buttons, nothing works, it's just a text response that resembles the app I wanted. Innovatively unhelpful
Gemini response that says:

Here's a stopwatch that counts up:

00:00:00

To start the stopwatch, press the "Start" button. To pause the stopwatch, press the "Pause" button. To reset the stopwatch, press the "Reset" button.

Start | Pause | Reset

Note: This is a basic implementation of a stopwatch. For more advanced features, such as lap times or alarms, you may need to use a dedicated stopwatch app or device.

This sort of take really pisses me off. It just completely flattens whatever the person was going through and turns their death into their own moral failing. It's the "I would simply" of mental health, and you would not simply, nobody has ever simply, that is not how anything works.

No, I mean, this is a picture of two tables that are different shapes. The parts of the screen representing the tops of those tables are the same shape, but the 3D tables being depicted aren't. Like, this is not a picture of three identical cars parked next to a row of increasingly tiny lamp-posts:
A picture of a street. There is one parked car, and it has been copy-pasted twice more along the street, without accounting for perspective, with the result that the furthest away copy looks massive.

I see Google have finally invented "making their app icons look like things instead of like each other"
Various Google app icons. They're mostly blue, green and yellow, with (mostly) red reserved for Gmail, although it still has a hint of rainbow, I expect to imply that it's in some sense the Boss of the other apps. It is Odin to Calendar's Thor, which I guess makes Chat Loki, because you absolutely never know what Chat's going to do next

This guy's really going to raw-dog a two-year Mars mission
According to spacepolicyonline.com, the round-trip flight will take approximately two years. During the recorded interview with SpaceX Communications Manager Huot, however, Wang said he’s not worried about the long journey.

“I can stare at the map view on airplanes all the way from takeoff through landing, so I think I’m going to enjoy the trip,” he said.

Wes Streeting has confirmed that he will run to replace Keir Starmer as prime minister if a leadership contest is triggered, and called for a “proper contest” to be held for the role.

Speaking at a conference organised by the thinktank Progress on Saturday, Streeting confirmed he would enter any possible leadership race, outlining his belief that the UK needed to pursue a “new special relationship” with the EU, signalling that he wanted to see the country rejoin the trade bloc in the future.

My first thought was Rain Man, so I Googled it and, well, this is how Wikipedia puts it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain_Man
Since Dustin Hoffman's 1989 Academy Award win for his performance in Rain Man, about half of all Best Actor trophies have been awarded for portrayals of characters who are disabled in some way; none of these recipients share their characters' disabilities in real life.

Today's silly project has been: Lego Game Boy photoframe This link lets you print a sheet of up to 15 cards (assuming A4) with different pictures on. If you play around with the colour settings, and have green card to print on, it looks pretty good. www.andrewt.net/lego-gameboy...

The casting call for this preposterous Wordle TV show unveils what I presume to be the logo, and my favourite part is the grid in the background features a 🟨🟩🟩🟩🟩 row, a thing that cannot possibly happen in Wordle
