As my dad was in a hospital bed in Ontario, in what turned out to be the final weeks of his life, he made sure to tell me how much he disliked Danielle Smith. He thought it was stupid and appalling that she wasn’t standing alongside the other premiers, united against Trump’s 51st state musings.

All the UCP’s changes to municipal elections made the election worse. It was actually awful. The counting centre was chaotic despite all the best efforts of the workers. It took 4 hours to count only the mayor’s advance votes. By the same time in 2021, we knew the full council results. #yyc #yyccc
