DC already taxes capital gains like ordinary income, what even is her nonsense argument? Also she's walking out the door and has been a lame duck all year. That plus 2 others leaving makes for bad lawmaking. 121
Reposted by Andrew HeimertNon Revenue Disco Train @nonrevtraindisco.bsky.social · 3hNadeau is perpetually dishonest in her claims as if it's not taxed as ordinary income. She trades on the ignorance of her fan base. If she wants an NIIT on top of that then sure fine whatever, but it would be easier to just raise the tax rate on whoever she thinks isn't paying enough. 121
Andrew Heimert @andrewjh.bsky.social · 1hYeah, this is an important point. She keeps comparing it to the federal NIIT, but federal tax rates on capital gains and investment income are lower than for earned income. So the federal tax narrows that gap somewhat for high earners. For DC it’s just a surtax on income from investments. 110

There are plenty of sensible reforms, starting with staggered limited terms, that have much better long-term effects. 310
Andrew Heimert @andrewjh.bsky.social · 15/10/2026Increasing the size of the court to, say, 15 is a short term fix. It maybe gets 6 votes short term to reverse certain recent rulings. But long term what happens when you end up with 9/15 appointees as authoritarians? Not that different than 6/9. 460
