I’m still hoping some of the MHEG scripts from these olde days have survived somehow for archiving 🤞

I think the only “exploit” is that apps in the secure folder can’t inspect what other apps are installed, so HSBC can’t see if there are any “forbidden” apps

ORACLE only had the Buzz section for their computer games content. Digitiser came out at the launch of Teletext UK Ltd’s service in 1993, when they took over the teletext broadcasting licence from Oracle

Before 1/3/91 the listings were regulated - BBC channel listings were only allowed in the Radio Times, and ITV listings (and C4 I think) only in TVTimes.

The question asked for 3 digits to replace the question mark, I want my streak back #1percentclub
What three-digit number should replace the question mark in this sequence? 762 917 629 176 29? Your answer: 176. Correct answer: 1.

The implementation of passkeys seems to have split in half. Some companies, eg MS, allow you to create multiple keys on a variety of devices like Yubi. Others, eg PayPal, only let you create one key that can only be saved on a phone. The former is the correct implementation IMO but not universal.

What they should have done is make it an optional thing that makes bureaucracy easier (eg generate driving licence counterpart codes, prove right to work, open bank accounts, age etc) and then make it de facto mandatory, instead of going in force first.

Aw man. RIP Patrick "PatmanQC" Davis. A legend when it comes to covering classic arcade games, and his voice is going to be sadly missed.

Two new teletext Knightmare adventures have been recovered from VHS tapes by @neilsmiles.bsky.social! It appears to be the first Eagle Quest in the series, and Swamp Quest. I have cleaned them up and made them available for intrepid adventurers to try... andrewnile.co.uk/tt/ @mrbiffo.bsky.social

I swear the BBC's turning into a paywall site, like lots of the newspapers have done. Thankfully reader view works, but I don't want an account. Not now. Not ever.

I had a look and there are some responses to a letter written by Lister on 1994/09/16, but sadly I don't think we've found the original letter yet. But it must be close to there.

I don't think AI (LLMs) will take over anything yet, judging by this response. Worst of all, I still don't know what was wrong with Felix's lighter! Judging by his shock when Bond lights it, it definitely wasn't a "personal touch"...
AI: Hey there, it's great to meet you. I'm Microsoft Copilot, your AI companion. (...)
Me: What was wrong with James Bond's lighter in Licence to Kill? Why was the flame so big?
AI: In the movie "Licence to Kill," James Bond uses a lighter that has been modified to produce a much larger flame than a typical lighter. This lighter is actually a gadget provided by Q, Bond's quartermaster (...) The oversized flame is meant to be a dramatic and visually striking feature, showcasing Q's ingenuity (...).
Me: I thought Felix gave him the lighter?
AI: You're absolutely right! The lighter was indeed a gift from Felix Leiter. The lighter, which is a rather special one, was presented to Bond by Felix and his new bride, Della, as a wedding gift.
The lighter isn't just an ordinary one; it's a functional and sentimental keepsake. The dramatic flame we see in the film is part of its design, adding to its uniqueness and utility for Bond's daring missions. So while Q is often the mastermind behind Bond's gadgets, this particular lighter has a personal touch from his friend Felix.
