People are funny about their privacy even when they're in a public place where there is no expectation of said privacy. TLDR; The social contract seems to imply that if you're recording video or taking pictures, you need to be relatively obvious about it. 🤷‍♂️ /end

Movie theaters, art galleries, even museums that may be exhibiting protected works, ban the use of ANY recording device with good reason. Heck, I've been (wrongly) chased out of public places by indignant people who thought I might be photographing them with legit camera gear. /3

At that point it feels sketchy, even creepy, that you might be recorded and won't even know it. As it is, Ray Ban Meta wearers are going to great lengths to hide the indicator light. Many have tried to completely disable it, with some success. I can understand the "bans" in that case. /2

I think the big difference is that with a phone that has obvious lenses (or even a regular camera) it's hard to miss. Same with security cameras, they're rarely hidden and are reasonably obvious to the observer. Glasses, such as Google Glass, Ray Ban Meta glasses, etc. aren't obvious at all /1

Terrible advice. Safety systems and crash protection continue to improve, so much so that I won’t buy anything more than 10 years old. I would never daily a “classic”. Just not worth the risk.

That’s a combination of cameras reading speed limit signs and getting information via GPS. Mitsubishi Outlanders have a similar system, but you can turn it off.
