There’s a statue of Shakespeare in St. Louis’ lovely Tower Grove Park. So far so normal for Victorian city parks.on the pedestal there are four characters. Hamlet. Naturally. Falstaff, fair enough! Lady MacBeth. Huh, interesting, but great character. Queen Katherine. Uhhh, what?

Old man Grassley chairing this, and then Klobuchar finishing by shouting out the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, is what really puts this over the top as a "that sure is the Senate!" moment

Reading @danshafer.bsky.social’s excellent recap of assembly races is how I learned that among the GOP candidates gracing our state this year are a Gen Z TPUSA guy from suburban MKE and a MAHA chiropractor from the Chippewa Valley. Shit remains weird. www.therecombobulationarea.com/p/2026-elect...

The kids’ school does a fun run fundraiser every year. They give the kids a script to try to raise money. They called grandma and grandpa, and before the 2nd grader could start reading the script, the kindergartner screamed “grandma we need money!!!” into the phone.

This week I made a ragu with ground elk and dried cherries for some friends. I modified it from Hazan’s recipe (the milk, the nutmeg, the very long cook time) and it worked really well. That book is a gem.

An Entertaining with Andy tip! If friends are coming over for dinner, do a ragu* or other slow cooked meat thing the day before. You can spend more time hanging out, and it’s better a day later anyway. *In this instance, ground elk with dried cherries and red wine.
