My 9 year old has decided to start talking walks in the morning on Wednesdays before school (5:45 am 🫠) and we keep seeing these bugs by a pond we walk past that glow in the dark with a faint blue light Anyone know what we are looking at here?

The strange thing is that Holmes has such a corporate mindset that she treats the chemistry stuff…that hadn’t been invented yet…as just another glitchy small problem that could easily be solved. (Have the solution on my desk Monday morning!)

Thinking it is from a racoon or possum. There was a very faint skunk smell on the air, but that is typical in the mornings here Confident it is not from a wombat, as the poop is not a cube and wombats are not native to this continent

Just curious, what does the sponsor logo on the Crystal Palace kit shirt make you think of?
The 2026-27 Crystal Palace kit shirt. It has red and blue zig-zag stripes. The main sponsor is something called Temporal and its logo is two ovals overlapping at a right angle, which looks kind of like a simplified solar system or, dare I say, atom. It definitely in no way looks like a butthole.

Summer book 16: I Was a Teenage Slasher by Stephen Graham Jones. The third book by the author that I read this summer, each one strikingly different in tone but each with extremely well-written, developed narrators. I've discovered I actually enjoy the horror genre (at least one author anyway)

I don't know, but it seems like giving something a name that includes a commonly used prefix in chemical nomenclature (but not used for its common purpose) seems like its just going to cause confusion down the road

With remarkable synergy with the overall rollout of its new branding, when I visited the ACS website today I got this popup notification explaining the brand which I could not close because the little X to do so was cut off (you can see a hint of it at the top right) and not clickable 👍
A popup window on a phone "Introducing the ACS brand evolution" showing the new American Chemical Society logo which is a generic symbol that is a cross between an atom and a
butthole next to the letters ACS.

A hint of a sliver of a close button for the popup can be seen in the top right corner of the image.
