The weather is totally lousy out there today and I've been reading in bed all day, in good company. 😊

I think I might have read something by Anne Carson at uni ages ago and I saw her at a literature festival once, but I can't say I'm acquaintanted with her writing. Perhaps time to dive properly into something by her now? We'll see!

Tidigare ikväll var jag på Nordiska Museet för föredraget 'Svartkonst mellan fakta och fiktion' där författaren Per Faxneld samtalade om sin bok 'Tre varv motsols' med två kuratorer från museet. Det var oerhört intressant. Det är det alltid när gränsen mellan verklighet och det trolska suddas ut.

There are a few European languages in which the word for 'world' comes from words and roots to do with light – the world being the place lit by the sun. Lithuanian pasaulis 'world' is especially etymologically nice, as literally the under-sun (pa-saulė).

We don't say "hygge" in Swedish. That's Danish. In Swedish, we say "mys" or, more commonly, that something is "mysig(t)".

The air is crisp, with an edge to it. And the colours of the few clouds in an otherwise clear sky are absolutely out of this world tonight, all different shades of purple against a pale, cold background of blue and fading orange. Autumn really is a season of beauty.
