the oddest thing... Trader Joe Tote Bags are wildly popular in China, Korea, Japan, and the Philippines. a bag is only $2.99 at TJ's, but up to $100 on online shopping sites. limit 5 per customer. hundreds in line. when? it's random. word of mouth. excellent quality.

The Indo-European verb "to be" combines identity, existence, and location in one concept. Chinese has three verbs: shi (是), you (有), zai (在). This has implications for Western philosophy and theology. By using one word with several meanings, thinking becomes muddled

that big clump in the middle is a drey, a large squirrel's nest. squirrel builds these like bird nests: branches & twigs for shape plus lots of grass, bark, & leaves. she may have two or three dreys. it's a sphere: she is safe, warm, & dry inside. this drey is 3 feet wide (1m) and 30 feet up (10m)

i've noticed in the last few years the staff at govt offices, banks, insurance companies, etc. don't know their jobs. they do the easy stuff, but complex issues? "That can't be done." we have to explain their job to them and walk them through the steps.

when you get a reply from an AI, remember... - every AI reply is different for every user. - every AI reply is different at different times of the day, your location, and your device. - each AI (Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT...) has different replies.

The web started (realistically) in 1995. - To experience it, one had to be 15 years old or more. - People born in 1980 only knows the digital world. - People under 50 never experienced the analog world. - Only those over 50 remember what it was like to live and work in a world without the web.

the midterm elections are in 71 days. ten weeks. the GOP's lack of preparation is remarkable. they don't even have a message. "Victory in Iran!" okay, not that one. "Affordable food and gas!" not that either. "Datacen..." scratch that too. "The ballroom!"

Jay Cost finds corruption happens when, "... a government that wields more power than it is capable of exercising responsibly, is a government that will produce public policy that favors well-positioned factions over society." Unstructured power breeds corruption.

music, a deeply human endeavor, surely it raises the spirit, yes? Charlie Parker, Bill Evans, & Stan Getz were gifted musicians & giants of jazz, but their personal lives were decades of broken affairs, abandoned children, heroin addiction... the same with many poets, writers, painters...

the inaccuracy in Nolan's Odyssey isn't a black Helen or the helmets, it's how ideals of oikos, metis, xenia, and nostos were ignored to turn it into a sentimental story of a wounded hero's journey home. read the poem. learn about it.
