When Delenn gets attacked by bigots they specificly mark her with the transgender symbol. I think ultimately the only thing that they really changed was the initial makeup because the actor had a hard time with that much prosthetics.

If you watch the pilot film first and just continue to hold that particular look Delenn had it works just fine. IMO Delenn is trans and transitions as cannon. I mean JMS and Wachowskis are good friends, he knew what's up.

Tbh Americans don't even appreciate their best sci-fi, I grew up with Babylon 5 and I am astonished at how overlooked it is. But it's probably because it deals with war, genocide, oppression and fascism in a really raw way. There's moments of joy but there's also a lot of sorrow.

My only experience with something like this was a Russian guy my dad fixed cars for who had lived here for 20+ years and even had a kid and neither he nor the kid spoke a word of Lithuanian. Like it's such a tell, you cannot tell me you don't know the basics like taip, ne or labas.

OK final gush post: The show many times stresses that you cannot let your life to be defined by violence, that you should only fight to protect something that's actually important. Imagine a mecha anime where parents are actually supportive and found family as concept is shows as entirely equal.

It's such a fertile ground to explore all kinds of personal struggles and philosophical concepts, trough each individual pilot. The fact that the show follows a whole bunch of teenagers all the way to their mid 20s is dope as hell too and really plays into all of it too.
