Are the Crown Prince pumpkins tasty or bland, in your opinion? (Assuming you tried them.) Wonder if they're worth growing. Certainly pretty.

Today is National Coffee Day, which is all the reason we need to re-share this beautiful ceramic coffee pot by William De Morgan. #NationalCoffeeDay #Coffee
A ceramic teapot with a tall, gourd-shaped body, a curved spout, and handle. It features decorative red patterns with floral and abstract designs on a white background.

Being in your 50s is confusing. On paper, I’m 55. At a concert, I’m 24. After 8/9 PM, I’m 88. Getting up off the floor makes me 115. But when the'80s music starts playing, I’m 17 all over again.

Having grown up in E. Europe, I can tell you it's always Lolek & Bolek, not the other way around 😜 Otherwise, a fairly accurate description of the Kushner & Witkoff duo.

One reason so many people mistake emotion for thought may be that the language surrounding public life has shifted away from evidence, logic, and verification—and toward feeling, belief, and emotional instinct. Research on millions of books shows that this reversal accelerated after 2007.

Why are Nazi warships resurfacing in the Danube River? | CBC
Nazi German warships scuttled in the Danube River during the Second World War are resurfacing as water levels plunge — a striking sign of the extreme heat and drought gripping Europe this summer.

This pup found a stick shaped like an old timey pipe earlier today and has already solved three mysteries. 13/10
a brown wire-haired pup stands on a wooden deck in a grassy yard. he looks at us with golden eyes and his right ear flipped inside out. he has a pipe-shaped stick in his mouth, giving him the appearance of a sophisticated and dapper gentleman. just give him a deerstalker cap and a cloak, and he'd give Sherlock Holmes a run for his money.

Buttigieg: We didn't know it, but we've all been trusting our lives to the restraint of whoever the president might be. And now we have a president who is completely unrestrained. And so the only answer to that is a functioning Congress. It turns out we do not have a functioning Congress.

Was curious & looked him up: Maxim Kalashnikov = a pen name of Vladimir A. Kucherenko (he's not related to Mihail T. Kalashnikov the AK-47 inventor). So Maxim Kalashnikov the vatnik, RU war blogger, rabid RU nationalist, was born with a Ukrainian last name 🤔 (Ancestors now spinning in their graves)

Day 1561 of my 3 day war. This war has now lasted longer than Russia's involvement in WW1. An incompetent Czar presided over endless disasters, mass casualties & economic calamity causing the army to eventually mutiny. I remain a master strategist.

Bill Bryson on the subject of Brits bristling when others point out the oddness of old units: "'Of course they make sense,’ the British person will sniff. ‘Half a firkin is a jug, half a jug is a tot, half a tot is a titter, half a titter is a cock-droplet. What’s not logical about that?’" 😀

For the past 30-40 years, society sold us the lie that you could just "individual responsibility" your way out of having to do politics. But politics is just decisions about how we organize society, and "not doing politics" is the same thing as giving up your voice.

Some titles hit you with a 1-2 punch of incongruity, or a jarring contrast that's immediately intriguing: The Yawning Heights; The Elegance of the Hedgehog; Me Talk Pretty One Day; Please Don't Eat the Daisies; Babies and Other Hazards of Sex; A Confederacy of Dunces.

Surely no supervisor can object to an employee taking 10-15 min to post a daily photo or fact relating to your site & collections? It can only amuse & delight the fans, and further drive up interest & visits to your venue. To stop this kind of engagement would be a boneheaded move (pls quote me).

That mayor's gonna end up with egg on his face: Trump is hovering around 30% approval rate in the US; I'm curious what the approval rate is over there? Doesn't someone need to be _popular_ in our old country/cities (and preferably, dead) before people start agitating to get stuff named after them?

So, he wants theocracy back? Fat chance. Obviously, you can't _convince_ these fossils & their fundamentalist followers to quit this nonsense, but the rest of the country will ultimately vanquish them in the simplest way: by outliving them.
