(And yes, Jasmin Savoy Brown is queer and uses both she and they pronouns in real life) What i didn't know is that they kill Phin off in the end. Miles "tries to warn her" multiple times thru out the city that the big explosion they're planning will destroy half the city but he never says that.

I used the edit feature to update the pronouns of an actor. it used only she/her even though they use both she and they. I was able to edit both the text box that pops up when you click the references and each section, as well. I LOVE PUBLIC SHARING OF INFORMATION

the wikipedia app is incredible. you should download it and donate to them. i use it constantly. you can have lots of tabs open at once. i have between like 10 and 25 at all times hehe if you make an account, on lots of articles you can submit updates if you know or learn more about the topic!

Boys State happened simultaneously, on the same campus. we were STRICTLY FORBIDDEN from talking to the boys, all week. Then at the end of the week they made us have a DANCE with them. and the counselors taught us "how to respectfully decline a dance," where i was told "just "no" is too harsh."

even in a govt simulation camp for 16 & 17yos, you're still expected to snitch. and i refused to, so the conversation devolved into me sobbing, asking for more details about what i could do differently, and ultimately being asked "do you think maybe it's best for everyone if you go home early?"

When I would repeat that another girl said, watch a girl who had caused harm whip her head around and demand to know who said that- I lied. i said that i couldn't remember. I didn't recognize that my mistake was trusting, sharing too much, but i did know that my mistake wasn't THEIRS.

another one was that I had heard about one girls bad experiences with Mormonism, and was asking a Mormon girl too much. most of it was being autistic around young girls who do not say the rules out loud. but my biggest mistake of all was I showed true solidarity with them.

I remember being surprised that it was an open campus and commented on learning something new. I EVEN SAID SOMETHING ABOUT BEING EXCITED TO TAKE WALKS ON THE PRETTY CAMPUS. They pulled me in that week to talk to me about "asking too many questions." and one of the examples was the open campus thing

it was making it hard to hear the music we were practicing to, and i was really anxious about messing up my steps. I asked one of the counselors if she could ask him to play somewhere else. in hindsight, she was just some NIMBY bitch, but Sara refused, stating "its an open campus."

I lived in this town my whole life and didn't know the college had an open campus. Each county had to put up the flag in the morning at least once during the camp. They made us do the stupid fucking military march and everything. when we were practicing one night, a man was playing the fiddle.

The year i went to it, i think 2013? the camp was at a college in my hometown. for a week i slept in a sorority, sharing a room with bunk beds with 15 other "girls." (i would be surprised if i was the only one who came out since). We made up our "county." and the counties made up the "state."

Another girl, Mormon, JW, or maybe just baptist or something else strict, gasped when I and another girl talked openly about being bi. she told us we were sinners. This wasn't new for me, I was hanging around queers since 6th grade. I had first been told I was going to hell when i was 11 years old

I immediately made friends with a girl who had escaped Jehovas Witness. Whitley, I hope all of your dreams came true ❤️‍🔥 My immediate family was not religious, but my extended family was. I was ENCOURAGED to approach religion with curiosity at home, but at Girls State I was targeted for that.

The red flags were pretty immediate; Meet and Greet events at churches. Prayers at the shared meals before the camp itself started, everything being run by senile old white people, women doing all of the labor related to cleaning, cooking and serving. But i was determined.

But in highschool, i had just taken an American government class for the first time my junior year, and I was being actively groomed into a Non-Profit Manager Type by white women at my local Boys & Girls Club, so the bits of radicalization that had taken hold thru my teens was transformed.

i had one of those parents that was a little TOO "make your own choices!" about the wrong things. I also dated a scientologist when i was 20/21 and apparently most of my family knew that Scientology was a cult but didn't want to say anything. Luckily I was too poor and radical for Scientologists!

i went to Oregon Girls State another lifetime ago, and a girl told me i was going to hell when i talked about being bisexual, but I was pulled aside and talked to by 3 of the counselors for "asking too many questions." Its gross how even in "non-religious" camps these values come up, and cause harm.

as a white person I have seen a lot of the harm I've perpetuated come from a place of wanting to feel like I was helpful- rather than wanting to get the person I'm helping support that is relevant and accurate to their situation, AND can actually help them.
