Being GenX/Millennial is such a trip. In our lifetimes, we saw people our age getting wild criminal penalties for pirating music and now have to sit and watch as companies gobble up our work with impunity.

Adding to this, there's a number of options. Most cable needles are just short DPNs with grooves. Another common type has a dip in the middle. There's also the spiral ones mentioned here. But you can also use a regular DPN or even a large safety pin. Or, hell, a toothpick or pencil.

Certainly! Great thing about this pattern is that it's a 6 row repeat and the cables are only worked across one row. You could knock it out in a week. It's easy and low stress. Perhaps even something to do as a background project when you need a break from more intricate stuff.

The only thing I'll STRONGLY recommend is to ignore the fact that pattern uses a gradient yarn. Cables always work best when used with a single color, and I'll die on that hill. I also think very dark colors should be avoided. Light or bright is the way to go if you want the cable to be visible.

That's all there is to creating a cable. Whether it leans right or left is determined by whether the stitches are held in front or back. A palindrome scarf is an excellent, and fast, thing to knit to get the basic technique down. I've made several. static1.squarespace.com/static/5e876...

Cables are genuinely easy to learn. Not to say that there aren't complicated cable designs, sure. But the technique itself is VERY simple. You hold a group of stitches either to the front or back of your work, knit ahead, and then go back to knit the held-back group.

Is this bitch actually trying to imply that abortion pills contain Zyklon B? I take it that "abortion pills cause cancer" wasn't working?

Ya know...if I had a dollar for each time someone set cash down on the motion-activated conveyor belt of my checkout lane...well, let's just say I'm gonna have a lot more cash in my pocket than you'll have in yours when I let the consequences of your stupidity play out.

Well, "virus" sounds scarier than "bacteria" and the guy's link says this was an anti-plague lab, not a bio weapons facility. So he's obviously motivated to spread lies.

AJ Petty @amyjpetty.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Your own link says clearly that this was an anti-plague research lab. Why are you outright lying that it was a biological weapons facility? Are you more invested in scaremongering with conspiracy theories than in, you know, verifiable facts?

This right here is why I reject objections about personal choice. Vaccines aren't about the individual. They never have been. They're about the public good. If you don't want the responsibilities of being part of a community, you can fuck off into the wilds where you can't hurt anyone.

The fuck? I have brought water, soda, and sometimes coffee to an interview and usually whoever interviewed me also had a beverage of some kind. This is petty and stupid.

Used to be that working as a retail jockey earned "get a real job." Implication being I guess that only white collar desk jobs were "real." What gives? Is the pendulum swinging the opposite direction?

....Is...is this supposed to...okay, wait. What IS this supposed to do? Distract voters from the *other* war HE started that pissed everyone off? Supposed to make people LESS angry about gas prices?

"He was asked...about [his] promise [of] $5,000 checks, a promise some critics have argued may run afoul of federal law." Why the HELL won't journalists just say it? There's no ambiguity here. Offering money for votes IS illegal! That is not up for debate, the law is quite clear on the subject!

Reasonable consumers do in fact know the difference between buying and renting. The definition of "to buy something," has not changed.

See, this is the problem. You're projecting assumptions without even bothering to consider any other possibility. I've never heard of her but it seemed like pretty obvious satire AGAINST truck nuts culture to me. But I wouldn't just run with that guess without, you know, looking into it.

You not understanding the purpose, or having "no confidence" in someone's judgement...that's beside the point of there being zero cause to think she was an unwitting victim of malice.

I don't know who she is either. It would nonetheless be bizarre as hell for me to assume she had zero agency in something like this and her manager forced it on her as a gesture of contempt.

A lot of people on SNAP DO spend money at Costco, and Sam's Club, too...about $10 billion worth annually. What makes it moot is that you can't buy hot food, including rotisserie chicken, with it.
020 0
AJ Petty @amyjpetty.bsky.social · 22/08/2026
Google it. The damn law has not gone into effect. There are a very few states where it is permitted under very specific rules. Otherwise, no. Rotisserie chicken is currently disallowed on SNAP because it is a hot food item.
100 0
AJ Petty @amyjpetty.bsky.social · 22/08/2026
No, it isn't. The law you're talking about hasn't passed yet. People don't know because it's not a thing.

AJ Petty @amyjpetty.bsky.social · 22/08/2026
I don't know why anyone is declaring that a rotisserie chicken IS $10 for a small one. That's just not true. It's $6-8 in many areas and large enough to be a part of a meal for a family with potential leftovers. Most folks on EBT would kill to buy it with SNAP. It SHOULD be permitted.

AJ Petty @amyjpetty.bsky.social · 22/08/2026
The fuck is your problem? I'm not against SNAP benefits and I'm 100% opposed to restrictions against hot food. Look at my feed and you'll immediately see my ACTUAL opinion against restricting foods on SNAP.

Gee. It's almost as if we need food safety regulations that are strictly enforced, instead of listening to farmers insist they aren't necessary.

What, like grocery stores, you mean? Are grocery stores expected to test produce they receive? No. There is no legal requirement for them - or for restaurants. The regulatory onus falls on farms and packaging facilities. They're the ones who should face legal penalties for unsafe handling of food.

You're literally making my case for me in proving that you're a bot. You never did explain why you think pointing out that Pfizer would have a hard time proving a defamation case somehow amounts to defending Fox. You can't answer that question, can you?

The alternative is to conclude you're an illiterate moron. You have yet to articulate the vaguest hint of intelligent thought. What other conclusion do you expect people to make when you think "A defamation suit would be hard to prove," is a defense of Fox News? It's telling that you can't answer.

You are not a serious person if a Twitterism from more than a decade back is the only response you have to being called out on your lack of critical thought. Of course, you could always express why you think "Pfizer would have a difficult case to prove" is such a contentious statement.

AJ Petty @amyjpetty.bsky.social · 16/08/2026
This is a vacuous response to saying that Pfizer would have an uphill battle to bring a defamation case against Fox News for anti-vaccine lies. Pointing out legal reality is not a defense of either Trump or Fox. Classifying this kind of idiotic response as coming from a bot is the GENEROUS take.

Talking about the evidentiary burden Pfizer would have to meet in a suit does not somehow imply a defense of or support for Fox News. Good lord. You're acting like a bot.
