As a late medievalist, I never thought I'd spend as much time as I do reading about the Conquest, but it's seemed inescapable this summer...

I have just had the (very belated) realisation that I can choose "Bass Boost" on my headphones and it's made listening to Noah Kahan's new album an even more incredible experience

You know what day it is? We almost forgot. Yes it’s your annual reminder that Yoda was infact a medieval monk. (Smithfield Decretals at the British Library). #maythe4thbewithyou #starwarsday
We are looking at a section of a medieval document with a grey creature with big ears and claw like hands that looks a lot like yoda. They are wearing a red brown cassock.

I had the privilege of attending the @stainedglassmuseum.bsky.social study tour in York last week, absolutely full of the most astounding medieval and post-medieval glass both in the city of York and the East Riding! I was particularly thrilled with visiting the Minsters at York, Beverley, & Howden.

It's been a whirlwind of a fortnight - we held the first Postgraduate Symposium for the School of Art History and Museum & Heritage Studies, my wonderful sister came to see Scotland for the first time (and loved it!), and I've assumed my elected post as Postgraduate Research President!

Melvyn Bragg has been one of the last standard-bearers for a really important, and unfashionable, idea: that good conversation, between people who really know their stuff, on complex or difficult subjects, can be fantastic radio - and that the national broadcaster should do this. I hope it endures.

It’s 2nd December and time for the next festive treat on our #adventcalendar. The chapel screen is one of only a few original features left from the 15th century chapel. Here it is in all its sunlit glory.
We are looking at a large room with a stone flagged flor. In the distance there is a chapel with sun streaming through a window casting long shadows on the floor.
