Golden flames blasted from the blade. Elex cried out as they washed over him; the sound of glass shattering reached his ears as he collapsed to the ground. Four of the souls tinkled to the floor, rolling harmlessly away. Elex fought to breathe as he struggled to push himself to his elbows. He raised his head, glaring at Azriel.
"Wh-What have you done?"
Azriel sheathed her weapon and slipped the shield onto her
