If it’s intended to be read, the spine on a book as thick as that will be absolutely ruined. But as a collectible it’s just a waste of paper…

That’s a basic and somewhat depressing beans on toast. Next time, try adding some herbs and a dash of tomato purée to enhance the flavour. If you’re feeling bold (or some might say, insane), spread Marmite on the toast.

I just watched Grand Prix a week ago and saw her there (as the love interest of the French Formula 1 driver), looked her up and was amazed to find that she was still going at 102. Sad that time’s caught up to her.

Yep, I sometimes catch my brain trying to decipher some discourse-laden context-free post or other, then realise that I’d have to do an afternoon of unpaid research on topics that *don’t have anything to do with me* and shut that instinct down fast.

Amy N @amyfluidgoth.gamingfluid.co.uk · 06/10/2026

lol, she almost forgot the gender critical shibboleth, they’d be coming for her otherwise… 🤦‍♀️

I was dragged (somewhat literally, lol) out of my closet by some friends who got sick of me moping around for months whining about not being able to do makeup or being too scared to go out in “girl mode”. Eight years later I’m still a gender-fluctuating mess but at least I can go out and have fun!

This looks really cute! While it’s off the air, Doctor Who definitely needs to explore projects like this to keep itself going.

I absolutely love that you’re rehabilitating licensed games from the 360/PS3 era, not just re-releasing 16- and 32-bit titles in collections. Way too many movie tie-ins are lost to history or rapidly delisted when their parent companies no longer need the additional marketing.

020

Amy N @amyfluidgoth.gamingfluid.co.uk · 05/10/2026

My problem with this “breaking bread” idea is that it only works if there’s compromise to be had. Right-wing thinkers aren’t known for their ability to absorb constructive criticism and change their views accordingly; rather, they have a tendency to double down on their positions at all costs.

I’m not sure what I find funnier, the low-resolution horse (deliberate: I have the “Retro Red Hare Saddle” equipped, which gives you the PS2 era horse) or the power-walking soldier… 😁

Movies, and seeing them in the true cinema experience as intended, are one of my biggest passions, so this festival weekend was the highlight of what’s been a tricky year for me so far. I’m definitely going back next year!

Last weekend, I was up in Bradford for the annual Widescreen Weeekend Film Festival. Showcasing movies in classic widescreen formats like Cinerama and Super Technirama 70, it allowed me to see a lot of iconic movies on the big screen for the first time! Here’s the full list of 11 films I enjoyed:

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND

HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING

THE SEARCHERS

KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR

ZULU

E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL

HOW THE WEST WAS WON

I know people (myself included) have widened the cartridge slots on Mega Drives to fit the shape of Japanese imports, but I've never seen someone cut the cartridge instead. Good god.

A Japanese Sonic 2 cartridge with huge hunks of plastic cut away from both sides to allow it to fit into a western Mega Drive. The exposed board is visible inside.

Ridiculous. All phones are “smartphones” now. Your observation is just a rehash of the old “they all have flat screen TVs!” Sun reader argument.

You can usually find a service menu command which will let you unlock the settings. I've had to use it so many times in hotels because hardly any of them maintain their TVs properly, the number of times I've found all the channels detuned and the settings locked out...

Amy N @amyfluidgoth.gamingfluid.co.uk · 01/10/2026

Yeah, I was more referring to the presentation and overall vibe rather than gameplay, which has had a bunch of quality-of-life stuff done to it and therefore plays a little differently to the original. But, you can turn most (if not all) of the new features off!

Amy N @amyfluidgoth.gamingfluid.co.uk · 01/10/2026

I’ve been playing it all morning. The sheer attention to detail in recreating every moment, all the cutscenes, with their goofy voice acting and animation, without changing anything or “updating” it, just makes me smile!

Well it took a few boots to go but I guess this is Firemus Tang. I didn't get an option to switch games or select any so I gave this a play and its fine enough. I also opened the cart for you all to see. l'll keep messing with it a bit.

Ah, Firemus Tang! 😂 Have you tried pressing reset? Some multi carts work like that to switch games.

One of my favourite versions of Sokoban was the amusingly-named “Shove It! The Warehouse Game” for the Sega Genesis. It wasn’t released in Europe so it was one I got to know via emulation, and some of its puzzles are hair-tearingly frustrating!

Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered comes out tomorrow, but I couldn’t wait and tried the demo! It’s a full remake more than a remaster, with so many great quality-of-life updates that it feels more like a “Dynasty Warriors 10” despite the skeleton of the PS2 game. A rare day-one purchase for me!

Lets play every version of Toy Story 1! Link: almagaming.wolfpack.xyz/gameblogP14.... I grew up with the Genesis version and have some lovely memories attached to it, especially with my grandfather at the time. He'd watch me play it and make funny comments, good times. What version is the best?!
