Crew missing after drone sinks ship in Black Sea off Bulgaria - ABC News & Headlines
Bulgarian authorities are searching for the missing crew of a ship that sank in the Black Sea after drones hit two vessels, amid fears over Russian hybrid warfare. Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said "sea and air drones" attacked two merchant vessels about 70 nautical miles east of the coastal town of Byala. He did not know who carried out the attack, but said if the Russia–Ukraine war was "not brought to an end in time, it will continue to expand its geographical scope and increase the risk of even a global conflict". Mr Radev said no crew members had been found from the ship that sank, but did not specify how many people were missing. It was believed to be the Togolese-flagged Alfa Watan that sank, according to the Maritime.bg specialised website. Eighteen crew — 11 Turkish and seven Indian — had been rescued from the other ship, the Able, which was carrying grain and registered in Palau. Two of the rescued crew members were hospitalised, one suffering from burns and one from a head injury. 'Unacceptable' attack complicates Black Sea trade The attacks were carried out within Bulgaria's exclusive economic zone which, Mr Radev said was "absolutely unacceptable"...
