I love the airy, shimmery vocals on this one. They go nicely with the minimalist approach to lyrics. Plus there's a dog on the cover art. And there's a dog on the cover of their earlier single "All Night," which Swiss Portrait put out in April, so check that one out, too! (Can you tell I miss my dog?)

Pittsburgh Pop Punk band Main Street Detour has been added to rotation with their latest song "sleep when i'm dead." While upbeat and energetic like you'd expect from a Pop Punk song, what makes this band's sound great is an underlying element of somber chord structure and melancholic melody. Tastefully infused with Emo, which is some of my favorite kind of Alternative Music. Keep up with the band and find more of their music on their Bandcamp page HERE. A "hear it early" alert comes with today's "New Arrivals" post. Scheduled for release October 21st, the latest from Australian band Reverend Genes is in rotation on AMS Radio. The song is called "There's Something" and it's the lead-off single for an upcoming album projected to be released in late 2027 titled, "Early Signs of Remorse." You might recognize the band from previous releases we've had in rotation such as "It's Not Enough." This new single presents an exciting evolution in their sound; which some have described as "Australian Pub Rock." I hear elements of New Wave in their approach to a overall neat Alternative Rock sound.

New to rotation on the station is the latest from Liverpool band Dropstitch. The song is called "Giants Kingdom" and it's a follow up to their previously released single, "Limerence," which you might have heard also in rotation. The band's sound possesses elements of Post-Hardcore blended with Hard Rock and Metal. One of my favorite independent music discoveries of the year. The layers of synthesizers in the mix gives the song "Giants Kingdom" a giant sound. With only two singles out so far (as far as I can tell); this is a great band to find as an early adopter.

Another new track from Jukebox Heroes HOT PENNIES has landed in rotation and is available to add to your Jukebox collection HERE alongside their other singles "YOU SUCK" and "ALL WORK NO PLAY." The newest song added is called "TALKIN THAT SH*T." The tune is a gritty tune, soaked in garage punk, and is from a forthcoming release titled, "AWNP EP." Gotta say I'm digging this new track from Avery Friedman. The cool ambient reverse-effect in the beginning would be right at home on a Brian Eno record and, alone, is worth the price of admission. Breathy vocals call to mind early Belle and Sebastian, but the production is 100% smart contemporary pop, striking a delicate balance between tight and airy.

Savannah, Georgia’s Endera proudly share the video for their song "The Philomath," which showcases them performing in a DIY stage.

There are a couple of neat new Indie Rock tracks in rotation on the station from the Massachusetts-based band Gentle Hen. And they're available to add to your Jukebox collection HERE! The two tracks available so far are "Comfort Zone" and "Slow Day" from their recently released album "Wink." Both songs are rich with melody and shimmering, jangly guitar work. The band draws inspiration from artists such as Real Estate, The Beths, R.E.M. and The Go-Betweens. Gentle Hen is a great recomendation for fans of those bands in particular and/or the Jangle Pop sound in general.

The Brickabrats from Portland are in rotation on the station with a new song titled, "Fun Night." It is some upbeat, good feelin' Skate Punk. The song is from an upcoming EP titled, "Thwack!" Mixed by Mark Kaeder and with some recording help from Eric "Vegetable" Olson (from the legendary band Poison Idea); this EP is definitely something to look forward to. Yeah, we got some bugs right now. When a track plays on the station, the metadata updates about a minute before the next one starts playing. That's no biggie, we even have a tiny little "info" text that explains that... However, in addition to that; we have some bugs right now where the metadata for "now playing" sometimes gets "stuck," for lack of a better term, for a whole song before resuming on the next one. Sorry about that! When will it be fixed? Well, we broadcast with an open source vendor that has devs that manage what they can, when they can. Probably dedicating a lot of their own personal time to help out, so there isn't really a timeline. Hopefully it resolves soon though.

New in rotation is a rockin' new single by the band Dead Blonde Stars from Sheffield. The track is titled, "Alpha," which was released on September 15th. The guitar work is heavy and intracite, the drums and bass are punchy and moving, and of course the vocals of Gary Walker are remarkably soulful and alarmingly reminiscent of Chris Cornell. This is the first single released from a forthcoming album titled, “Devolution,” scheduled to be out in October. Turn up the volume for this one! Sun Ground (a project by Italian producer Antonio Luvarà) is the station's latest "Jukebox Hero" with a track titled, "Nrkey My Love." Check it out HERE. The genre of Sun Ground could be described as electronica, funktronica, and/or indietronica. The song is rich with synth textures and pulsating rhythms. For fans of Deep House, Ambient Techno, etc. "Nrkey My Love" is a welcomed addition to your Jukebox or mp3 collection / playlist. We've spun a few tracks by UK Alternative Rocker Asgard Raven over the years, and I'm stoked to be able to say he's now one of our Jukebox Heroes on AMS Radio! A new song set to be released on September 30th titled "The Shadow," is now in rotation. Check it out and hear it early HERE. As you'd expect with an Asgard Raven song, it's melodic and for lack of a better term, contemplative. "The Shadow," as the title might imply, is somewhat more of a brooding tune.

Tamir, a Toronto Hip Hop artist and producer, joins the AMS Radio lineup today with his latest single, "SWEAT." Co-produced by Buxton and Only1KNG Music, it is a funky tune with a fat bass line. Tamir describes the sound of the song as a "Soundcloud gem," and I totally agree with that, very reminiscent of that SoundCloud era hip hop movement. New to the station is the latest from Tokyo Rose, a band that really hit their stride in the early 2000s before an unexpected hiatus in 2007. Their history is rich with impressive highlights such as being featured on Vans Warp Tour compilations and having music featured on MTV's "Road Rules" back in the day. They recently released a song (and music video) for "Better When," which is now in rotation. It is an ethereal Rock track that certainly calls back to that early 2000s Alternative sound. The band also has some shows lined up in the New Jersey / Pennsylvania area over the next couple of months.

A Massachusetts based project called Buzzard has a new track in rotation on AMS Radio titled "Disunion." It comes courtesy of GetMusic.FM, so head on over there and add it to your Bandcamp collection for free (while codes are still available). It's a cool rocking track that reminds me at times of Ghost, but heavier. In fact, according to the band's Bandcamp page, the sound is self-described as "Doom Folk" which I think is perfectly accurate. It's an interesting musical mix that incorporates storytelling and lyrical themes of sci-fi and horror.

A new arrival to the station's lineup comes by way of France, Wicked Cool Records, and a band named PRISONER. The song is titled, "La femme qui s’était faite toute seule," which translates in English to "The Self-Made Woman." It is a rambunctious track with lots of energy that reminds me of early B-52s. UK Rapper Creepzz is our latest Jukebox Hero on the station with his single "Island Vibe," featuring Nigerian singer Kosi Sia. Check it out and add it to your collection HERE. Blending elements of Pop, Afrobeat, and Hip Hop, it's a feel-good tune with a laid back energy. In that, it makes the track a distinct one amongst his catalog that's been historically rooted in emotive and lyrically powerful storytelling. His artistry has been a story of complexity and redemption. G. Kane is releasing a new solo EP and you can hear the title track "Time Heals" early on AMS Radio and add it to your Jukebox collection! Kane's new work deviates slightly from the surf punk / garage rock sound of his band Unlucky Mammals, but still carries an underlying punk ethos in it's writing. It's kind of a "Dylan-esque" folk punk by my ear. Check it out and add it to your collection HERE. I'm particularly drawn to his lyricism. The lyrics are clever and insightful, similar to an Unlucky Mammals record in that respect. Hear G. The Tempe, Arizona based band HOT PENNIES have added a new song to rotation and it's available to add to your Jukebox collection! The new track is titled, "All Work and No Play." As the title implies, day-to-day burnout is the lyrical theme in this garage rocker. And as you would expect from a Trash Anderson production, it not only brings gnarly guitar tones, but tongue-and-cheek vocal delivery as well. If you're a fan of that gritty, energetic, garage punk revival sound in the vein of The Hives or The White Stripes, this would be a great addition to your mp3 / Jukebox collection.

Germany based band Cosmic Souls has a couple of new songs in rotation on the station: "My Room" and "Three Things." The band's music is a nice fusion of prog and hard rock. Rhythmically intelligent and certianly guitar oriented with some cool riffs. I also appreciate how stark and obscure their lyrics are. It's also pretty neat to see some of the behind the scene rehearsal performances on their IG. That's always a plus for me these days when following bands. Andover, England based artist Asgard Raven is a new addition to the AMS Radio lineup with the single "Those Were the Days." It's a catchy Indie Rock and Roll tune that immediately struck me as something anyone who is a fan of a Brit-Pop, Oasis style sound could appreciate. Guilty as charged here. In the words of the artist: "Those Were The Days is an upbeat trip down memory lane, reminiscing about the good old days and how much we miss that care free time in our lives. Just a quick note about a new thing you might or might not have noticed on AMS Radio. We no longer have multiple channels. The station is just one main channel now that gets full attention and focus on curation, scheduling, rotation, etc. And in place of "The Pirate Ship" - there is now a shuffle feature in the "songs" tab along the top of the site. This is where a user can listen to all songs available to be added in their Jukebox collection, but songs are shuffled and the listener can only skip to the next song or add it to their collection if they wish to.

Minneapolis based musician Zaq Baker is no stranger to the station. From "Peonies" to "Victorious" to a personal favorite of mine "Isolation Chic," he's a regular in rotation. With his latest song "Petulant," however, we have broken new ground as it is also available on Jukebox! I'm ever-so-delighted to refer to him now as one of the station's "Jukebox Heroes." And this latest track just might just so happen to be my favorite of his so far. It is a somber and introspective Alternative Rock song delivered in a way that I can only describe as "signature" to that of Zaq Baker.

Estella Dawn has a unique way of crafting pop songs that lyrically just gut-punch you right in the emotions. That’s probably the best reasoning I can apply to explaining why I’m such a fan. Her latest single, “Hometown” is no exception, and after listening through for the first time I swiveled right over to Qobuz to buy it and add it to rotation on AMS Radio. Currently an artist based in San Diego, CA, Dawn reflects on “making it out” of her New Zealand hometown on the new single. The lyric, “oh I used to call that shit winning, but honestly I don’t even think about it now,” resonated with me deeply and my own love/hate relationship with my hometown.

I'll tell you, man, sometimes I can barely shake the cobwebs out of my head. Coffee won't do it, so I take a shower. The shower won't do it, so I take a walk. Sometimes I even remember to get dressed between the shower and the walk. It's a mug's game, whatever that means. But then sometimes a song will cut through the haze, and "Waiting for My Moment" is that kind of song. It starts with a distorted guitar that sounds like a trumpet in an Ennio Morricone soundtrack -- drenched in the same delicious reverb that coats the gorgeous backing vocals haunting the entire track.

Rod Coleman is a Pacific Northwest multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and recording artist who has been involved in many projects and solo releases over the years (Groovebirds, Navigate North, Organic Acid to name a few). He is a current member of The Groovebirds with Tracy Coleman and Phil Carroll, contributing drums, percussion, keyboards, vocals, and songwriting. His contributions help shape the band’s alternative and contemporary rock sound. It's your lucky day. That's right, it may seem counterintuitive considering it's Friday the 13th. However, Olivia Miceli has a new single out that just-so-happens to be called "Friday the 13th," and it's one of our New Arrivals on AMS Radio! In additon to various "New Arrivals" play times, you will also find it in rotation during “Bandcamping." How fitting is it, on a day infamously associated with bad luck, to feature a song about heartbreak. Olivia Miceli is an artist who has developed what you could call a signature sound for heartbreak style ballads.

One of the newest songs on AMS Radio's "New Arrivals" is "Burn For You" by Baltimore, Maryland's Between Daze. The band, however, is not a recent addition to the station; their name may strike familiarity with you from other songs we have in rotation on "Indie Anarchy" and "Bandcamping" such as "BackYard" and "Shooting Star." Their sound casts a wide net within the Alternative Rock genre, navigating many spaces between Post-Punk and Pop Rock. This latest track resonated with me similarly to acts like The Cure and U2. Lyrically, the band describes the song as "a poignant exploration true love and the lengths one is willing to pursue it," and I think that is a great way to describe what I would call an emotional journey while listening to it.

Brian Lambert (Denton, TX) has a new single coming out on March 24th, a cover of the song “Undressed” originally performed by Sombr. Lambert’s spin on the 2025 Alt Pop hit takes form as a synth and bass laden melancholy. One thing I like about his version in distinction to the original is the way the arrangement thins out during parts of the verses. The bass and drums in those parts do a great job of creating a familiar Alternative Rock style tension, hoisting the irresistible melody of the song into the spotlight.

Hey you! Yeah you. Come here, get a little closer... Philly Power Pop trio and Jukebox Heroes, DelCobras, have a new single dropping March 14th. That’s right, Pi Day. Proving once and for all that finding awesome new independent and underground music is as easy as pi(e). The new song is called “Get Closer” and it is an anthemic alt rocker with “Weezer-esque” moments. Not a far cry from the Power Pop sound you'd expect from the band to date, but there is an extra "punch" to it I am thinking might be in relation to their approach in production.
