Defector is the only site I'm aware of that closely follows the intersection of sports and sexual violence. Diana's reporting alone is worth the subscription price. Go sub.

October 6th. The day I turned on the space heater in my office.

Mason Miller blows a save in the postseason. Maybe the Brewers *are* the team of destiny.

That receiver suffered THAT injury and still stood up after making the catch in case you wondered what adrenaline could do for you.

Dolphins in it right until the very end and then they lose. The perfect result.

They bought national ads because I guess they think that’s a smart way to spend money?

Whatever magic Daniel Jones and the Colts harnessed the first half of last season has left the building and has now turned on them completely.

It’s an NFL Sunday, which means it’s the perfect time to confirm your voter registration status. Or to register to vote. Or to request your mail in ballot. Then, vote early. But, vote. Like your life depends on it. Because in so many ways, it does.

They brought in a singer for Oh Canada before the Canada match, and it was botched so bad they just started over with the music and cut the mic off.

Minnesota's blitz percentage sits around 66.4%, posing a serious challenge for Miami's offense, which is averaging only 12 points per game. This is especially tough for Malik, the young QB facing a diabolical defensive mind in Brian Flores. #miamidolphins #vikings

I posted this on my fb/ig today and wanted to share here too.

A baby wearing a light teal onesie with printed text that reads, "Boys will be boys." The word "boys" has a line through it and below, in print that looks as if it were scrawled by hand, are the words "Good Humans!"

I’m posting this nearly 10-year-old photo of my son as a reminder to myself and all parents that raising our sons to be “strong men” means teaching them to be accountable, emotionally healthy, empathetic, respectful, and responsible. We must teach them that other people are not objects; that their own desires, needs, and wants must never be met by lessening the humanity or well-being of someone else. We must teach them to reject toxic masculinity and outdated idioms like “boys will be boys.”

We must teach them that real strength isn’t about how much they can lift or how fast they can run or blocking out viewpoints counter to their own or how successfully they can silence insecurities and tamp down their emotions. We must teach them that real strength lies in being accountable for what they do and say, in caring for other people, in emotional regulation, in understanding their feelings, in respecting the bodily autonomy and rights of family, friends, and strangers alike, and in asking for help.

It won’t be easy. It won’t be without mistakes and setbacks. Growing up never is. But if we provide our sons a path to understanding that learning and listening and loving will lead them to real strength, we will have taken enormous strides to making the world a better place, not just for them, but for everyone.

The Deshaun Watson discourse is already gross, but it's about to get so much worse. I am begging people who cover the game to remind everyone that he is a disgusting person and his success on the football field shouldn't distract from that fact.
