National congratulating themselves (as usual) for finally outperforming increasingly pessimistic Treasury forecasts (thanks to inflation). Treasury forecast for the outgoing Labour govt in 2023 was 2.6% annual growth and a return to surplus THIS YEAR. #nzpol www.beehive.govt.nz/release/pref...

If the wording of the question was really "believed in" it's not a good question. It's frustrating to see public figures being asked whether they "believe in" scientific consensus, it happens an awful lot. #science #globalwarming #climatechange

Newsmedia is foolishly amplifying this hype train by the desperate AI industry who are desperate to sell AI as this scary doomsday thing... Because this helps them get more investor money. Anyone actually working with current AI models knows this isn't true. www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/1...

Denying the Nat's claims that Labour will introduce new taxes isn't opposition. It's still accepting Nat's narrative "tax bad". When we know taxing those who can afford it for investment that will reap returns for everyone is a good idea. People in straw polls are even saying it. #nzpol

Good analogy from @chewienz.bsky.social - keeping kids out of the poisoned river doesn't help anyone else still swimming in it. The river is still poisoned. Also if it's not even effective at keeping u16s out of the poison river, and verifying age means giving up privacy... terrible idea #nzpol

Potential to unlock consumer role during electricity peaks
It's driven calls to speed up consumers' ability to feed back into the grid via their electric vehicles. And to pay households for cutting electricity use at peak times.

...if it were commercial housing yes. But we're talking about state housing, rent controlled. It will both solve the housing crisis and improve our economy in a number of ways (construction = employment, affordable housing results in economic stimulus from new tenants able to spend etc)
