okay yeah i took a half day. my boss was extremely kind and gave me a hug + made sure i knew i should always prioritize myself over work stuff + told me to let her know if i needed anything. she's very sweet. got some chicken nuggets and now i'm home with my very happy cat in my lap.

i work in accounting and all our projects get assigned to week 1-4 to determine when in the month we pull them for review. week 1-2 i've usually got about 17-ish projects each, then week 3 is heavy with 24-ish, then week 4 is light with 12-ish.

okay so that ended up being a little manic swing rather than a full episode so that's good. once it left i dipped kinda low but now it's evened out into a regular kind of sad which is much more manageable. keeping an eye on things but i think we're mostly good.

sometimes i wonder how my dad would've handled me being trans, and idk. but i remember him being a bit homophobic when i was growing up and when he and my mom started suspecting i might be gay he stopped making those comments so that he wouldn't hurt me. so i choose to believe he would've tried.

We don't use AI anything because AI makes people feel awful, collectively. If people feel awful then how will they do any good work? In my 20+ years of development experience I have never seen so many people feeling so absolutely worthless and like they have no value at all. Ignoring all of the serious ecological, copyright, de-skilling, and power-concentration issues with AI, I will happily concede that AI can ‘make stuff done faster,’ but that's just an overdrive for what Bad Games Industry decisions have been making forever (work more, crunch more, get paid less, destroy your franchises, ship a sequel every year or die, etc). It's a blunt instrument to do what makes a lot of money for some people, not what makes actually better, sustainable, more enjoyable products for the creators and the players.
