My #poem 'Net' was selected for an anthology called 'Salt Songs' by the George Mackay Brown Fellowship in Orkney, (2023). This tiny piece was inspired by GMB's writing, & appeared in my rock|salt collaboration with artist Elspeth Knight (2022) 💙 Link to anthology: www.orcadian.co.uk/shop/orkney-...
Net by Larissa Reid

The raw flex of muscled rope
the blue slap of cold
a tangible sky pressed into ink.

Backs hunched in creel curves;
hand over hand, bone over fist,
blood into brute force of a gale-ripped sea.

The reward:
a sliding spill of silver fish.

That night, the sails split open galaxies;
their guts are full of stars.

Thank you so much, and so sorry I missed this! I’ve not been online much in recent months, I’ve had to focus on my health for a while. Grateful to still have folk interested in (& remembering!) my poetry 🙏💫❤️

Glimpses of our stunning #winter walk round to the local loch today - all ice, feather and water ruffles 💙❄️
Stately swan drifting in on a silver-grey, partially iced loch, east Scotland. Swan swims away from the camera, ruffling feathers and water. Iced loch under silver low winter sun. All shades of blue-grey-white. Geese, swans, ducks drift in the unfrozen centre of the loch.

A Solstice Blessing
Written by Pádraig Ó Tuama
As night stretches here,
day contracts elsewhere.
And in their night, we are
bathed in light. In all nights
there is light; in long days
there can be ache too.
For you, we call the sun
to stand still a while, and
the moon too, and stars, and
the waters and the heavens.

Muted #dawn colours over the Binn hill, Fife coast, early this morning. A blue silver #frost and orange-reds left over from autumn. The only sound was a blackbird sounding the alarm that I was in his space (forgive me, good sir, it was so beautiful).
