Photography and advertising image. A color photograph of a provocative ceramic tableware in the shape of a vase with an imprint. The photo shows a white ceramic vase with artificial golden metal flowers on an elegant wooden cabinet. The inscription is unusual, as it reads "Fuck" in large, old blue letters. Next to it is an ensemble with two glass salt and pepper shakers and in the background you can see a piece of a yellow-framed painting on a green wall.
Info: The photo is part of an advertising campaign by an Italian ceramics manufacturer presenting its collection of provocative tableware. I have decided not to link to this photo as it is a business with which I am in no way affiliated.

Streetartwall. A mural for the 2019 election was sprayed/painted on a 420 square meter wall in Dresden. In the colors yellow and green and designed like an art nouveau poster, a girl is depicted with a ballot box. She is wearing a shirt and a long-sleeved T-shirt on top of each other and has short curly hair peeking out from under a baseball cap. She is holding a rose in her hand. The other hand is resting on a cardboard box with a slit that reads "In the rage, moan loses his intelligence".
Info: The idea with this huge election poster was to get as many eligible voters as possible to cast a democratic and sustainable vote. The slogan originally came from the Dalai Lama.

Streetartwall. A beautiful mural of a red-haired young woman with a cat has been painted on the slightly curved exterior wall of a two-storey modern building in the city center. The young woman is depicted from head to toe as a huge painting (7.00 x 2.00 m) on a beige background. With a friendly look in her eyes, the woman, elegantly dressed in a blue dress with a yellow floral pattern and high brown boots, gazes in the direction of passers-by. A gray striped cat nestles around her neck and she holds a black bird in front of her with both hands. The mural has a positive mood created by the interplay of graceful elements, floral and animal motifs and is reminiscent of Art Nouveau depictions.

Photography and art. A color photograph of a sculpture in an exhibition space in Korea, showing two naked, hairless human figures sitting side by side on a brown block and holding hands. They look a little like 1 meter tall dolls, but the figures are both only half, as if they had each been cut in half. Twins split in half. The object, which is interesting in itself, stands in front of a glass front that reveals a view of green, bushy ferns. This confuses the viewer, as one involuntarily wants to complete the two figures in one's mind, as there are clear cuts between the green, the half-human, the green in between, the next half-human and the green again. Both the sculpture and the photo are thought-provoking and that is... Art.

Streetartwall. A fantastic mural based on a comic drawing by Max Cabannes has been installed on the outside wall of a four-storey building on the city wall. The huge mural (120 m²) is painted entirely in shades of blue and shows a girl leaning against the city wall and looking down on the city below. This painted light blue wall connects to the real city wall on the right. The mural shows the view of a town built into the rock on the wall of the house. It incorporates parts of the surroundings, such as roofs and parts of buildings, e.g. the city wall, and continues them in an imaginary view. A wonderfully precise work that extends over several levels and characterizes the cityscape.

It appears to be a "naked cat", without fur, with pointed orange ears and nose, blue eyes and a big smile on its face. An orange heart glows next to it and a few blue bubbles float above it. Art. (from a completely bonkers American president). President Donald Trump is branding himself a monarch on social media accounts on X, Instagram and Facebook. He made an unprecedented declaration on Wednesday while applauding his administration’s decision to terminate federal approval of New York’s congestion pricing program: “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED,” Trump wrote on his social platform Truth Social. “LONG LIVE THE KING!” The official White House social media accounts on X, Instagram and Facebook soon quoted his post, all sharing a fake magazine cover depicting an illustration of Trump smiling in a suit — and wearing a bejeweled golden crown. In the corner of the magazine cover appears the text: “LONG LIVE THE KING.”

Photography. A black and white photo of a group of children playing on a long slide. The picture shows a lively scene on a hill, which is overgrown with grass on the side. A curved metal slide leads from top to bottom and serves as the center of the action. A child climbs up the hill while another child slides down in the middle of the slide. In the foreground, a teenager stands with his legs apart at the end of the slide and looks up at this child. Two more children are standing next to him and others are standing at the top of the hill. The children are dressed in woolen sweaters or jackets and jeans. A multi-storey concrete apartment building can be seen in the background. Although the natural light in the photo is subdued, it radiates the vibrancy and energy of the children playing in a rather poor residential area. A fleeting beautiful moment captured forever.
Info: The photo is from the series "D'un Jour, L'autre" by Belgian photographer Martine Franck (1938-2012), a collection of over a hundred pictures. These are her favorite photos from her 30-year career. Martine Franck was also the wife of the famous photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, but her narrative style is different. She skillfully captures fleeting moments, is interested in people rather than effects and tries to capture moods. She is interested in people, not effects, and tries to capture moods rather than documenting the conspicuous. "We can paint everything, but we can't photograph everything".

Art. Satirical illustration. The illustration shows a scale in the form of a line graph dealing with US diplomacy. On the left side is an upward pointing line with an arrow indicating three categories: GOOD at the top, BAD below, and at the bottom: ROCK BOTTOM. Rock Bottom is the bottom continuous line pointing to the right. A scale in the form of a red dashed line is now displayed. The line is labeled "US diplomacy" and runs downwards in waves. It starts between GOOD and BAD and breaks through the bottom line. There you can first see a spade, then an excavator a little further down on the right and an oil rig on the far right, which digs further down together with the red line. Behind her is another person who looks almost exactly the same, with her arms raised high. Everything around her is red with little white snowflakes. The bright colors of the clothes are blurred, as if they are moving or underwater. The snowflakes are interrupted by larger pieces.
Info: The mural has the theme of microplastics and environmental pollution. It shows a person who wants to break out of this cycle. In addition to the snowflakes, small pieces of plastic are floating next to her, detaching from her clothes and polluting the environment.

$Photography. A breathtaking color photo of a glacial landscape in New Zealand in winter. The aerial view shows the branching glacial Tasman River on the South Island as it flows over the glacial moraine into Lake Pukaki. The branching thin channels of the Tasman, Godley and Cass rivers form a breathtaking tapestry of turquoise hues against the snow-covered landscape. Like a painting, the different shades of turquoise flow in long, gentle waves from the top to the bottom of the picture, where they merge into a narrow strip. Prominent snow-capped mountains (Aoraki/Mount Cook) appear in the distance, majestically framing the terrain. A breathtaking photo in the colors blue/turquoise and white with a certain drama and a skillful perspective that makes the picture appear almost two-dimensional. Info: The multi-award-winning photo was taken by Stuart Chape. He specializes in aerial photography of landscapes from helicopters and light aircraft, but portraits as well as documentary and social photography are also an important part of his portfolio. The blue coloration of the water in the photo is caused by the refraction of light on fine particles of silt or "glacial flour" in the water, created by glacial erosion.$

The two seniors are sitting on a wooden bench directly above a yellow letterbox and holding hands. The figures both have googly eyes of different sizes and are wearing old-fashioned clothes; he is holding a walking stick. They both look at the viewer. A wonderful idea, because nobody expects to see art in this niche between a bar and a pharmacy. The photo is a bit older, and paste-ups never last very long. Hopefully it was there for a long time.

Info: The orchid mantis (Hymenopus coronatus) is a species of mantis widespread in Southeast Asia, which only gets its name from its appearance. It lives in medium and higher foliage and flowers, where it feeds on nectar-seeking insects that are attracted by its flower-like appearance. However, the girl is blurred and can be seen from the side, while another child is clearly visible in the background. This child with pigtails, also in a summer dress, is standing some distance away in front of a plastered wall in the corner of a house. He looks shy and is also holding a thin hoop in his hands, but it is touching the ground. We look through the child's hoop at the shy girl in the corner.
