On top of that, I would move to make any election day a holiday where businesses incur penalties for keeping their workers on the clock in an effort to ensure people have the time to go vote if they hadn’t already cast an early ballot. My support of mandatory voting is predicated on these policies

We can’t even begin to enable mandatory voting if we don’t have universal automatic voter registration. Once we do universal auto voter reg, then the hurdle is making voting accessible by increasing the number of precincts and poll workers, which would both require increased budgets for elections
