Sending so much love and strength to all who are gathering to march and dance and sing and protest in peace. I’m in Nova Scotia, standing with you in solidarity, and making art inspired by resistance, hope and joy. #nokings

My splendid translator in France, Mikael Cabon, asked me to support an urgent campaign, launching today, opposing AI being used instead of people. I do so willingly, and feel same on behalf of audiobook readers and bookworld artists. I hope readers worldwide will show their agreement.

Make plans to visit Pjila'si, now on view at the Museum of Natural History. More than just a gallery, it's an interactive space that celebrates Mi'kmaw culture. Come to engage, learn, and reflect on the knowledge, skills, and adaptability of the Mi'kmaw people throughout history and to this day.

Message to Meta AI

Me: Why has meta stolen my books?
12:13 /l
Meta has been accused of downloading over 81.7 terabytes of pirated books, including potentially yours, to train its artificial intelligence models 1 2 3 . This alleged book heist is part of a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by authors who claim Meta used their works without permission.
According to court documents, Meta's executives, including CEO Mark Zuckerberg, were aware of and approved the use of data from Library Genesis (LibGen), a repository of pirated books, for training their Al models 3 . Internal communications suggest that Meta employees discussed strategies to obscure the origins of the data to mitigate legal risks.

Many things contribute to housing insecurity. Aside from the lack of affordable housing, racism often impacts a person’s ability to access housing and feel safe once housed. We all deserve to live in a home without fear or jeopardy.
