Berries are specifically one of the called out foods on the sheets I've seen for the explosive stuff, because of all the little crevices on them.
The Explosive Diarrhea notes: Image listing foods that you probably want to avoid and some safer options

Recommended to avoid: all berries, most leafy greens
safer options: fruits with protective outer layers one removes such as Melons, Cantaloupes, Oranges, Bananas, Avocados, Pineapples; as well as cooked veggies.

We first meet Mags at the same time she spooks a Magi Archives desk clerk. Magdalena's basically sneaking up on the clerk, though it's not an intentional sneaking. Magdalena just walks very softly even in her fancy shoes. Scares the shit out of the poor girl by simply *existing*.
“I need to speak with the Head Archivist, please.” Magdalena spoke gently enough not to startle the new clerk she’d approached.

“Of course, ma’am, though you might need to wait. May I ask what you need to speak with Lady Celeste for?” The clerk looked up, eyes going wide as she took in the sight of Magdalena’s attire and eight Magi bands. The rose details that covered Magdalena meant that every soul who worked in the Archives would recognize her, thanks to the fact that Magdalena had agreed to have a portrait hung in the Archives after she’d single-handedly saved Sunspar from a siege a century earlier.

Magdalena chuckled at the combination of panic and awe on the young woman’s face.

One of those very few is the head of the Magi Archives, a lovely woman named Celeste. Celeste is a member of the Scolta Order of Magi, the order of knowledge keepers, information gatherers, diplomats, mathematicians, etc. Celeste and Magdalena have been friends for centuries.
story snippet:
A tendril of the cheery buttercup yellow spark that belonged to Celeste wrapped around Magdalena in a sort of invisible hug, and Magdalena twisted her own shimmery dark blue-gray spark around it in greeting. “My friend, it is good to see you! I’m glad it hasn’t been as long as last time.” Celeste’s voice behind her made her smile.

Magdalena turned to face her old friend. “Celeste! I likely would have come during the summer this year because I’ve realized that I no longer have a cottage.” Celeste was holding the current Foresight logbook in her arms, with an ink bottle and glass dip pen sticking out of a pocket on her half-apron.

Celeste laughed. “I wondered how much longer it would take you to realize that. It hasn’t been a cottage in a long while, Magdalena, but I know taking care of it alone was giving you something you needed.”

@efafreelancers.bsky.social Hey I just wanted to let y'all know that your courses website is *broken* in a very bad way. This is a real size (1920px wide with full webpage length) screenshot of what's happening every time I try to look at the catalogue or follow a direct link to a specific course.
screenshot of a website where the header is incredibly broken making the icons larger than a standard 1920x1080 screen and forcing folks to scroll a long ways to find the actual content of the website.

tiny fun fact: the 1st time their descendants meet Mags, her introduction to them is when she slams the soldiers harassing them into a ceiling, some 30 feet above their heads. Adelaide's the current head of family that was still living in Hollysea when they had to flee, Maggie's the bank manager.
Abanos barked out a laugh. “We all know the woman’s dead. People don’t live to be three hundred.” The Valkrynd who had been sitting across the room reading crisply folded her newspaper up and was now watching the armored woman intently.

Maggie smiled at the stack of books she was arranging on her desk. “She’s three hundred and thirty-six. My information is more recent than yours is.” Maggie looked up at the hostile woman from the books. “After all, I woke her up this morning by dropping an angry toddler into the bed with her.” Adelaide’s jaw dropped before she regained her composure, shock written clearly on her face.

Abanos took a step back with an audible clink of armor. “What?”

“You heard her clearly, Vicar General. We both know you did.” The older Valkrynd Magi set her folded paper to one side, shrugged her shawl off and stood. Shimmery blue gray magic swirled around her as she stepped out of the little sitting area, and with a gesture she thumped the Hollysea soldiers into the ceiling. She swept up to Abanos and leaned towards the other woman. “Do I look dead to you?” A blue gray aura shimmered around the woman’s armor as Magdalena pinned her in place.

and went to see if there were any books on the use of Aether in Green Magic workings. Magdalena had the *only* copy the archives had and was actively referencing it in one of the study rooms. So the head archivist sent him to Mags, & he read the book 4 times before Mags called him on it.
screenshot of text:
Magdalena looked up at the soft knock on the door. She’d taken over this study room in the Archives so she’d have space to spread out the books and take notes, and not need to worry about clearing a space for her to sit and eat between study sessions. Fortunately, Celeste trusted her enough to just let her occupy the study room consistently for as long as she needed it while she was in town. “Come in?”

It was a mercenary man, not exactly a common sight in the Archives, but the Archives were open to the public for learning even if folks weren’t Magi. “I beg pardon, Lady Valkrynd. Lady Celeste let me know that a book I was wanting to read is in your custody. I don’t suppose you’d be willing to let me borrow it to read when you’re not actively needing it?”

She raised an eyebrow as she looked over at the other table, which was currently covered in several dozen books. “You’re going to have to be more specific about which book you’re wanting to read.”

He followed her gaze and chuckled. “I suppose so.” He stepped just inside the door and leaned against the frame. “It’s a book by an old Aether Channeler and Green Magic gifted Magi about the usability of Aether in Gardening. I want to say it’s called Aether in the Greenhouse, but Lady Celeste called it obscure enough you’d know which one . . .” He trailed off as she got up and went to the other table.

She shuffled a couple books around, and found the book easily. Celeste had been right about calling it obscure. She chuckled. “Obscure is one way of calling it. It’s not a widely accepted methodology for growing as it requires both the gift for drawing aether and the gift of green magic. And most Aether Channelers act like touching a plant will kill them, while most Green Magi act like touching aether will kill them.” She offered it to him. “I am actually still referencing that, so don’t go far.”

“Lady Celeste did recommend that I ask to borrow a chair from you to go with the book.”

Magdalena telling the story of Magdalena's March, a devastating counter-assault that is still talked about in military academies some hundred years after the fact. Technically, the raw destruction she wrought on the field could be considered a War Crime. #WIPSnips #WriteSky
text block from a manuscript:
Magdalena walked over to the table and seated herself in the same chair from earlier. “I made the airship I arrived to the fight on fly dangerously low so the enemy wouldn’t spot us coming through the mountains. We came out with the sun rising over the mountains to our backs, and I pulled my power together and began what would become known as Magdalena’s March. I carved a half mile wide stripe to either side of me of ruin through their encampment for a mile of total devastation, and the storm I spawned in the area ripped the rest of it to shreds. Of the nearly thirty thousand men they’d brought to lay siege to Sunspar, I’d left maybe a thousand survivors.”

I do not think I am winning this round of Plot & Word Count chicken. I have 135 words left between me & max word count for the market I was aiming at. I think I'm close to the end, but I don't think I'm *that* close. (This would still clock in as the shortest thing I've managed in years too)
