Every step away from communism, to stay free from Russian influence, is a step in the right direction. These countries know very well how much they suffered under the boot of the USSR. Not that I'm discounting the other former pact countries on the list. Just a theory.

Now I didn't see Estonia on the list to reinforce it, but I have a theory, not that 3 of the 4 "most optimistic" are Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. I think this is because these countries and their people know that it could always be worse, they just have to look east.

This has been a brutal war of attrition and the Russians have ground down so much, tanks, trucks, helicopters, artillery, men. They won't run out of bodies but something is gonna give, maybe it's fuel because of Ukraine strikes, maybe it's AFVs, maybe it's artillery. This attrition is unsustainable.

Whilst this is true historically, it at least had equipment for its troops, lendlease and when it eventually got a proper war economy going, modern Russia isn't the Soviet union. It no longer has the deep stock's of equipment, nor many suppliers. When North Korea is a supplier, there is a problem.

Historically that is correct, and you raise the right question. However, Russia can't even beat Ukraine, a force that despite western aid still isn't as capable as Poland's military, sidenote Poland has been heavily militarizing in the past 10ish years, Poland likely has the best military in the EU.
