Daughter and I watched the El-Sayed and Rogers debate last night. Could have made a drinking game out of “Muslim Brotherhood.” The breakdown into just rattling off the name of every Islamic group that installs the fear into Pearl-clutching grandmothers at the end was icing on the cake. #beserious

I will research (sometimes with an AI assist) so I can be more informed about what questions I may need to ask my doctor and have a better handle on the meaning of medical terms he might use. But I don’t use it for treatment recommendations or diagnostics.

For good reason. Sadly, the current parties have no incentive to make changes that permit additional parties to have a seat at the table. We don’t have national referendums in the US.

Literally, yes. Functionally, no. Independents and non Dem/GOP candidates rarely win federal elections and caucus with one of the 2 parties if they do. Unless the electoral system is overhauled, the US will remain firmly 2 party. A vote for Green Party in 2026 is a vote for GOP power retention.

I’m assuming a good general counsel helps representatives who are not lawyers to understand the legal precedents and ramifications of the legislation they draft and vote on. This seems appropriate and sensible to me. I’m also assuming Harper is not “good” general counsel.

My dad had a milking cow as I was growing up, and we pasteurized her milk. Very young, I remember asking why we heated it up if we were going to have to cool it back down. “To make sure it’s safe.”

I know 😭 This Supreme Court is a disgrace. The shadow docket overuse is an affront to the entire justice system. But even if they upheld the constitution in the courtroom, agencies need to enforce laws. Under Trump, it’s clear the executive branch doesn’t legally govern.

I was at an event last week and two people were trying to waive off the seriousness of Jan 6. I at least got them to agree that a blanket pardon was irresponsible, and that maybe the convicted felons who savagely beat cops on camera should have stayed in jail. Sad that I considered that much a win.

I don’t understand why you would run without any kind of online statements of your position! My city elections are nonpartisan. They disclose addresses for the candidates, so I drive around and see what lawn signs they have. My town is only 1 square mile, so that’s more practical for me than most.
