By and large, as it turns out, Autistic people do not want to be prevented. Less than 9% of this huge survey's Autistic respondents said they'd take a 'cure'. Why would you prevent something people wouldn't want to be cured of? autisticnotweird.com/autismsurvey...
Bar chart of results for Autistic responses to"If there were a cure for my autism, I would take it."
54.99% (4119) strongly disagreed.
26.95% (2019) disagreed.
9.05% (678) said neither.
5.47% (410) agreed, and 2.82% (211) strongly agreed.

We had another lovely Autistic Pride Picnic today! Thanks to all who came.
A bunch of people stand around an Autistic Pride flag, which has been coloured in eccentrically by children. Two of the people hold dogs. Everyone looks pretty happy in the sunshine.

Edinburgh's 6th Autistic Pride Picnic will be held again in The Meadows (in the usual place at the Prince Albert Victor Sundial) from around 2-5pm on the 2nd of August 🧺 This is an opportunity to celebrate autistic identity and the autistic community 🙌 Find out more: amase.org.uk/pride
A group of people in colourful clothing are gathered in a park. Some stand, while some are in wheelchairs. There is a little dog and a tent for shelter with colourful bunting and an autistic pride banner.

Tomorrow (the 21st of June) is Pride in our Community, in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh. AMASE Chair @fergus.oolong.co.uk will be one of the speakers, talking about the indivisibility of the struggles for queer, trans and neurodivergent liberation.
Graphic with a purple check bacground. It says 'Pride in our community! Holyrood Park 21st June - 11am-12:45pm" at the top. Below this is a white box which says "On our stage you'll hear from:" Followed by the Living Rent, Trans Kids Deserve Better, Exhale Glasgow, AMASE, Unison, Queer Disabled Edinburgh and Resisting Transphobia in Edinburgh logos. "Alongside speakers from the community!" At the bottom are the Equality Network and Scottish Trans logos.Graphic with a purple check background. In the middle is an illustrated map of Holyrood Park showing the location of the event on the left side of the park close to the palace wall and the car park entrance. Above the map it says: "Holyrood Parl 21st June 11am-12:45pm" "How to Find us!" There is an arrow pointing to the Education Centre on the map with a box that says "There will be pride crafts and a chill out zone with EN staff in the Holyrood Park Education Centre." At the bottom of the graphic it says "Level access to Holyrood park is available from the main car park at the Palace of Holyrood House."

Pleased to see that one Scottish Labour MP has now spoken out against the Labour government's plan to cut disability benefits even further.
Brian Leishman
@BrianLeishmanMP tweets:
Thanks to my constituents that have emailed me and to those that have spoke to me in person about the rumoured cuts to welfare.

If it goes to a vote, then I will be voting against more austerity.

We need to build a compassionate society that looks after the most vulnerable.
[He is quote-tweeting a Momentum post about contacting your MP about this]

Many thanks to everyone who came to our Edinburgh Autistic Pride Picnic on Saturday! It was a beautiful day, with just enough rain to keep us on our toes.
